It really hurt today that Nicolas only lasted 3 2/3. 4 Ls in a row in conference is troubling.

Anyone else think Maloney is going the way of Pete Lembo/Steve Shondell in regards to performance? Start off great the first 2-3 years, then just kind of get boringly bad?

He's back to doing what he does. Plays his favorites no matter how bad they do. Others struggle in a game and you may not see them for a week. Favorites cost him last Sunday and Friday. Those players don't get a day off even if they fail miserably. He's most consistent hitter this year has had two rough days in a row at the plate, not a fav and not playing. A favorite almost singlehandedly blows a game with his glove and is penciled in the next day. He's consistently inconsistent

Baker threw a nice game on Friday. an error in the 8th may have cost us the only run of the game. Our offense did not show up.
Yesterday's game, the offense showed up, but pitching was lacking. The starter Nicolas pitched 3-2/3, had 7 wild pitches. As a team, we gave up 3 HBP, and 11 walks.
Pitching control continues to be an issue. We threw 182 pitches yesterday (a 51.6% strike ratio). If you're not throwing at least 60% strikes (ideally 66% or better), you're gonna struggle.
Our opponents are sitting back and making us prove we can find the strike zone. Our pitching leads the MAC in strikeouts, but we are 2nd in most hits allowed, 1st in most wild pitches, 2nd in most walks allowed, and 2nd in most batters hit by pitch.
We have probably the best pitching staff (in 1st & 2nd year players), but we give away bases.

I just do not understand all the wild pitches. Overthrowing?

I just do not understand all the wild pitches. Overthrowing? Depends. Would have to see. Usually, it's not overthrowing, but a release point issue. Sometimes, it's the breaking ball down too low (still a release point issue). Seldom is it an inside/outside situation, but with the number of HBPs, I suspect we are trying to pitch in and tight (trying to control inside of the plate, and set up outside).

Sounds like the mechanics are an issue. Not consistently hitting the throwing window.

I'm glad Jameson stepped up today with a CG shutout to minimize the damage in the series.

Sounds like the mechanics are an issue. Not consistently hitting the throwing window. There's no throwing window. Each pitcher's release point is different, depending on their arm slot, and what/where they want the pitch.

The temperatures we have been playing in can have an effect too, colder temperatures means cold hands and fingers, makes it harder to grip the ball/feel the seams.

I meant arm slot. I guess the release points are just inconsistent right now.

Only four of ten teams have an overall .500 record in the MAC. BSU is the only team in the West. BSU is making this way too hard.
