The Cardinals put forth another game when they challenged the 8th rated Hoosiers before losing last night. I suspect the 16 walks were ultimately the cause. I also follow a ML team who also lost in 14 innings the White Sox. Their pitchers showing the major league ability to throw strikes only walked 12 . Well I continue to believe the pitchers will learn to throw the ball in the strike zone. Are there pitching coaches anywhere?

Pitching is a major issue.

I’m sure Coach Glant emphasizes throwing strikes but the pitching staff for whatever reason is all over the place with pitches.

BSU allowed 14 hits; IU allowed 14 BSU had 4 wild pitches; IU had 0. BSU had one Passed ball; IU had 0BSU stuck out 17 ( BB/SO Ratio was 1.06 to 1); IU struck out 21 (BB/SO Ratio was 4.2 to 1)BSU threw 161 strikes on 297 pitches (54.2%); IU threw 160 strikes on 257 pitches (62.25%)We threw 40 more pitches to IU than necessary. When your SO % is not in the 60s your ound to lose, unless your offense is just overly efficient. Also, men left on base BSU: 12; IU:22. IU should've won the game earlier, and Ball State lags on getting men capable of scoring. I didn't see the game, but pitchers may be placing breaking balls down, out of the strike zone, and missing. Also, I didn't have time to see how many first pitch strikes (a critical thing) we threw, or how we pitched with two outs. I can tell that the final run allowed by BSU was with two outs, and it was a walked batter.

With the number of quality pitching recruits that we have brought in over the past two years, we should be dominating from the mound. If there's an issue with the pitch location technique being instructed by the staff, then I think we need to go in a different direction.

I am disappointed with the season will continue to hope we can put it together starting in the next game.
