We all know they fudge the numbers but I found an interesting tweet about it Never mind @scottrwetherbee @emuathletics @gregsteineremu I remember how you can get to these numbers. In 2017 87.5% subsidized ticket sales by Pepsi. 13,120 of 15,000 #SaveEMUSports #UNtruEMU We need to find a a pepsi to buy some tickets. There is a bar graph on this guys page twitter.com/Conks3Ball State paid attendance 23,465 actual gate 1850

No idea how the Pepsi-EMU deal works, but if you've ever had an econ class, you understand that this subsidy is not free money that falls from the sky.
If Pepsi is forced to spend, say, $250K to buy football tickets as a condition for doing business with EMU, then they are going to just consider that as one of the costs of doing the business, and there would have to sufficient revenue to cover that so they still make their needed margin. If that condition wasn't present, then they could accept $250K lower revenue in their deal with EMU. My guess would be that the prices for on-campus Pepsi products are raised to create the necessary revenue to cover the subsidy. I'm just speculating.

Free money falls from the sky in Vermont, my friend. An endless supply of it.

Were any of you in the stands for the Pepsi Max Massacre football game back in 2007 I think? Cheerleaders threw full cans of soda into the student section. Students then promptly threw them right back. It was an ugly site. Not the brightest idea.

I'd only favor such a deal with Pepsi if the company has a few beers under it's umbrella (does it?).
I mean, if I'm going to pay for an overpriced beverage, I'd rather it be a beer to take the sting off the inevitable disappointment rather than a caffeinated soft drink that'll have me up at night posting idiotic things on message boards.
