Guess I was considering other things more important to judge stature of a university. Silly me. Dude they were symptomatic of a much larger problem. The decision makers at IU were an "old boy network" of back slapping, red sweater wearing, cover-up artists. Instead of addressing problems like adults they just pretended they didn't exist. You are talking ONLY about sports, that is not the measure of a university.
And. Don't think it is better to have the AD Bldg making all the decisions on sports!

I enjoy watching a pie throwing contest as much as the next guy, but a fight over the ascent, or demise, of TSIB, and the factors involved, is grueling.

Yeah right ............... They had little role. Believe me, the good old boys had MUCH less influence on academic issues or management of the campus and student life.
This is like your theory that Chuck Marlowe, Kitch and Laz influenced the world's opinion about the institution. Although less renowned now perhaps, IU was considered a great world university. Brand, as he did in sports, thought he could do it better if only he had ultimate control. Everyone saw how that worked in sports. In academics, IU lost one great faculty member after another and programs were cut and changed by top down administration.

You are so clueless, I was using Marlowe and Kitchel as a sample of the doofuses a poorly managed institution would hire. You are so f--king stupid, believe me you aren't doing old school IU any favors yourself. Duh...................
