Neu made the decision to blow up everything. Get rid of dead weight, tell starters they were done starting, forcefully suggest players not return. Was it the right move? I think it had to be done but it could cost him his job

Nope like or not Football is the face of Athletics at an FBS School where football is played. Salaries are higher, expenses are more, more coverage from a slew of outlets.. The leash is shorter and tighter for a football staff. Its hard to compare football results to basketball results you can not really do it. If we do though no way Neu would have been extended for doing what Whit has done on the basketball side especially twice. If we are above 500, discussed as contending for championship, eligible for postseason in toilet bowl, he is extended. That is what you said, exactly , and very similar to Whitford. Neu may get 5 years to do it. It is expensive to change horses and unless you stay in the bottom 1/2 and are not improving, you don't see most FB coaches fired at bottom tier programs. The MAC is bottom tier, not even IU or some cellar dweller in a power conference, where they churn coaches because they can afford to.

I do not know man like I said with Whit. I would not extend him if we got too 500 and made a bowl this year. If we went bowling and then went 8-4 next year then sure give him 2 years. 1 year of 500 football does not warrant an extension. It also does not lead to other jobs we are not and will not be in any danger of losing him till he strings together 3 good seasons. Bowl game, 8-4 ish with bowl then 10 plus wins and a championship is the typical course that brings the bigs dogs coming. If they come we are losing him anyway and we hope that any extension added a bigger buyout
