Going to be airing these weekly pretty cool stuff in the first one www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5ozbEzluSg&feature=youtu.beAfter watching the video it dawned on me that both starting wide outs Riley Miller and Antwan Davis were former walkons.. Im all for a walk on getting a shot but that is a bit concerning

Well my only guess would be that they were freshman last year and just not ready.. Now if we cant have at least one other than Hall step up this year we have some issues

If I remember correctly, we talked about either Littles or Newton, I think Newton, having a terrible "dropsie" issue last season. Hopefully that has been rectified over the winter.

Littles was the dropsies saw several in practice.. Newton played well late but only with plitt... Did nothing with Milas, Had one ball thrown to him by Riley early in the year. Newton had 10 yards on his guy and RIley severely under threw the ball

HeckI have been following the Cards football team for over 50 years and we always have walkons that contribute.
Some of our greatest players came to campus without a scholarship.
Think Blaine Bishop who went on to a stellar career for 10 seasons in the NFL and made 4 Pro Bowl appearances!
I think Terry Schmidt may have been a walk-on and if not we were the only major program to offer him a scholarship. He went on to play for 9 years in the NFL and was a CoCaptain of the Chicago Bears.
We had lots of good ones regardless if they ever made the pros.
Guys like that come in with something to prove!

Antwaan Davis and Riley Miller are not close to the type of walk on you are referring too. Especially when WR's were/are supposed to be a recruiting strong point

Antwaan Davis and Riley Miller are not close to the type of walk on you are referring too. Especially when WR's were/are supposed to be a recruiting strong point From what I have learned about recruiting that position is too much emphasis is placed on speed, quickness and size. Those attributes are certainly important but often over valued in the recruiting process IMO. I want intellect, great hands and route running with a little less emphasis on above. When that is done you end up with guys like Willie, Jamil among many others not highly recruited but obviously very productive. If we were a premier program you would insist on all of the above but that is not BSU or most G5 schools. You have issues that may not show in HS such as anxiety of being hit well beyond what they may have ever experienced previously that totally disrupts concentration on the catch and route running as an example.
