Three former Cards have played at the AAA level this season. TJ Weir age 26 started the season with El Paso where he was 2-0 with a save. His ERA was 4.65 in pitching 31 innings & he had 28 strike outs. He was sent to AA & is currently with San Antonio where he has pitched 7 innings with a 5.14 ERA & has 7 strike outs. He has no record there nor any saves. TJ is being used as a short reliever & seems dependent on throwing strike outs. He faces long odds to get to the majors with San Diego.
Dean Anna is the starting ss for Lehigh Valley of the IL the Phillies top farm team. He is 31 & this is his 6th year at the AAA level. He is batting .254 & has 21 RBIs & has no hrs. Anna to me has proven to be a day to day starter at AAA but is not considered a prospect for the majors. He did play briefly in the majors & it would be a pleasant surprise if he gets called up again. This is the 4th different major league AAA team he has played for in past 3 seasons.
Jeremy Hazelbaker has been a disappointment this season. He is primarily a DH for the Durham Bulls of the IL & playing some in center field. He started the season at Reno & was sold to Tampa Bay after a week. He is 30 & is hitting .180 with 6 hrs & 21 RBIs with 6 sbs. Jeremy has to really hit the 2nd half to have any shot at getting a major league try out next spring.
Lets hope one of them or more gets a major league shot this season.
