Tom Davis @tom101010 16h16 hours ago More It's very difficult to receive a $$ raise in the newspaper industry, yet as editor at the @perutribune I received a $5K raise. As Sports Editor at @newssentinel I was given a $7K raise. There are reasons for those. Contact me at ThomasEDavis10@gmail.com.

He's so far up his own ass he's going to need the Thai Navy SEALs to help him find his way out. Tom, people think you're a douchebag. There are reasons for that.

The tweet about his "sound judgement" is what tickles me most.
Also who job hunts ON TWITTER...AFTER *allegedly* already having two interviews lined up?!

Looks like someone let him on the internet with a bottle...mumbling in his cups.

The thing is that most newspapers are perfectly fine paying a recent college grad and paying them minimum wage to cover the things Tom did.

I'd guess he was paid reasonably, was working hard, and is genuinely surprised at how this happened.
Not sure he should be, the digital paper was surviving but limping badly. But as several said above, I hate to see people get the rug pulled like that.

But as several said above, I hate to see people get the rug pulled like that. I do feel bad about the situation. I am not one to wish ill or take joy in seeing someone else struggle. I do not care for the guy and think he is an assclown but hate to see it go down like that

But as several said above, I hate to see people get the rug pulled like that. I would say with a fairly high level of confidence he was making no more than $60,000 and most likely something south of that by as much as $10,000 possibly $15,000. I base that on several factors but one being a good friend who had a similar if not the same position as Tom but a couple years longer experience for a newspaper nearly double the circulation.

Seems reasonable estimate. Fort Wayne second tier paper not exactly the big time.

With his big heart, he should consider going into charity work. You know how he was covering all those topics "out of the kindness of his heart."

My niece was an editor at the IU Daily Student several years ago and is a working journalist in D.C. at this time. I asked her when she was looking for work if she would accept the job of a general reporter at a local paper in Indiana or some small publication and she told me of a friend who was offered a position with the Elkhart Truth. The salary offered would not cover her rent. No one is making a great living working for a small time paper.

Wow, I was actually feeling for the guy until he went all "there's a reason I'm so awesome" in those "I'm available" tweets. Those are a bit... umm... interesting to say the least. I still feel bad about the situation, but...
