What would we do on here if our teams actually won a MAC tourney championship? Would the board dissolve at that point?

Not a chance. Dozen new threads about why it didn't happen sooner. And, of course, that next year starts another long drought.
That's part of the culture. Resiliant, defiant, turning victory on any level into ultimate defeat.

Alright cut it out. Tournament champs is one thing but these girls made huge strides in moving this program. It's a grind and i have inside info that they laid it all on the line with what they were given.

I was speaking of our forum culture, not just the curse on BSU fans, prouddad. Be proud.
I'll be back in Worthen with you next year.

When the forum has championships to celebrate we will celebrate. We are a microcosm of fanbases everywhere so it’s not simply this forums culture. We just cannot seem to get there in major or high profile sports and it’s incredibly frustrating year after year.

I totally agree that fans have a right to expect wins and aspire to championships. I'm with you. I thought this year was a real opportunity to capitalize and bring the fans something to really be excited about. On the other hand, i am a dad and I get the insight into the highs and lows from the player perspective. I know how hard they fought and trained and sweated and battled through pain and injuries so it's hard to not recognize that they had a pretty damn good run. Not one of the players would tell you they accomplished what they wanted to accomplish but they should in retrospect in a month or two after the sting of loss and finality eases a bit at least get some acknowledgement that they fought hard and represented Ball State University well.

And no one is disputing or would dispute any of that. The effort, blood, sweat, and, tears is real!

It was a good season and one the players, coaches, fans and parents should be proud of but certainly not satisfied with. Remember when the Randy Litchfield teams dominated the league for over a decade? Seven trips to the NCAA tournament raises the bar and level of expectation for long-time fans. With Munciana in our back yard and Coach Miller at the helm, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to build not just a good but a CHAMPIONSHIP program once again. That is bar.

We could have used some of the Randy Litchfield era confidence - it would have probably made a difference down the stretch when we were up two games to none in the tournament. Lack of confidence that they could play with anybody played a role. All i would add is that this team made strides toward that championship program but did not reach that level by a long shot. Ask any player. One other observation is that Munciana isn't the only funnel. This program had some huge contributions from outside the Muncie area. Most contenders in DI don't limit the recruit pipeline. But i totally get what you are saying that Munciana should get first look.

Agreed, Munciana can’t be your only pipeline but I equate it to when boys high school b-ball was king in central Indiana in the 70’s and 80’s. You could build a helluva program starting there.

Ohh. you hit the nail on the head with me! Ha ha. I graduated from Anderson in 1980 so no need to explain further!! So even though a my daughter grew up outside Indiana, she heard the legends of Indiana from an early age. So don't think players from outside the Munciana area code don't know about the heritage and don't have a connection! Ha ha..

Ah yes, the legendary wigwam. What an atmosphere and those Norm Held teams were pretty incredible. I’m a little partial to that purple and white program just north of you guys! Those were the days, huh.

Those were the days, huh. Those were indeed the days. I wasn't a basketball player for the Indians but was at every Wigwam match during my years there. So much fun with 9000 fans in the stands. Had to move to Illinois for work and i was astonished to attend a high school basketball game when my son played with about 50 fans in the stands. Culture shock! But i was happy when my daughter got the chance to come to BSU and experience at least a glimpse of what Indiana sports was about. Sadly this was her senior year and so i will leave it to you fans to keep pushing for tournament successes and building on the culture that she worked tirelessly to improve.

No doubt at all the program is looking good. Just lacks the tourney wins to show for it, like just about every other bsu sport, and it frustrates us to no end. We know the players work their tails off and we appreciate it. They make tremendous sacrifices to play college sports.

Speaking of local talent, I just spun the dial past the NCAA championship game and learn that Nebraska has an outstanding freshman on their team from Alexandria, IN and an incoming national player of the year from Yorktown, IN. Those two communities are close to Ball State and Munciana if I remember correctly.
