Anybody remember what Chandler Thompson’s vertical jump was? KJ Walton’ has a 45”vertical jump.

A lot.
I’m thinking 44 for some reason.

It was his strength and bulk that made it even scarier.
Bond had a lot of vertical but not the power.
Both were playing a sort of 3 4 combo forward since neither had much offense outside for a wing. Both defended inside well and hit the boards hard.
Walton is a slasher too with little outside game shown yet for a G, but probably quicker with the ball, and a better defender outside than either. Probably will get some offense on the boards, overpower G's who try to stop him on the drive.

Not too mention his long arms added to his vertical. Thompson was a hell of a high school player and people forget he was a top 60 recruit coming out of high school. Majerus stole him from Purdue and Louisville. Never a great shooter but he was adequate. Walton our of high school was not in Thompson’s League. Hopefully K.J. has improved his perimeter game.

If Walton has any perimeter game has he can really be good. From watching last year, I am mildly surprised how well he's reportedly playing in practice this year. From very little chance to observe practice this year I'd say he's obviously more intense and engaged with the fact he's going to be playing.
Have not seen much of his shooting outside, can't testify, but he looks like he is kicking ass in the lane. Gives Persons more shots outside when he has the ball, drives. We have nobody who can stop him without help D.
I think we'll see more zone, when we can't get shots in transition, and Mallers, Gunn, Persons will have to hit outside. Need also to hit the offensive boards a lot more this year. Teague, Hazen should score some there and inside the zone with quickness.

I just hope Teague plays INSIDE in our zone offense instead of on the perimeter. His brick laying from out there last year still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I’m all about getting more slashers to the basket, and then kicking out to the perimeter when the defense clogs the middle. Those are the open shots that I think we have the personnel to make. Not too many of our guys besides Persons can really create their own shot off the dribble. This is especially true against a zone defense where passing the ball is the key to getting good shots, not dribbling through defenders or creating one on one matchups.

I just hope Teague plays INSIDE in our zone offense instead of on the perimeter. His brick laying from out there last year still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Each missed long shot attempt did leave a rancid aftertaste did it not! IF, and a big IF it is, Teague is dialed in and playing with intensity, he will not only get more inside as you say. (Remember, he had games where he disappeared even when he wasn't shooting 3's.) I think THAT is the main challenge. Maturity and intelligent play. Get him playing hard and it will pay off to have him continue to work on that outside game. Two years ago when he was inconsistent, but occasionally really engaged, overall he actually shot well enough to justify taking shots. He didn't hesitate, took the shot in tempo, free and easy, natural and it went in often enough. If he wasn't "in" the game we pulled him out. He spent the summer following, with some success, concentrating on hitting his spots and shooting outside. Everyone expected him to get more minutes and more shots inside and out. Last year in practice he had enough days where it justified him taking the outside shots in games. BUT, he has been extremely mercurial, really has had difficulty with focus. It was terrible feedback loop. He just never hit that shot in games, so much so that they dialed it back. Discouraged him and hurt confidence on top of his own issues with focus.

I once said Teague and/or Gunn would leave BSU being seen as an all time BSU elite player!
I still believe it!
