They will lose a couple most likely though they are capable of running the table. They are far superior then the rest of the league this year.

The MAC Champion has gone undefeated in conference play twice. Cincinnati in the 1949-50 season (10-0) and Miami in the 1957-58 season (12-0).
Recently the closest anyone has come.
Akron 2012-13 - 14-2 Toledo 2006-07 - 14-2 Kent State 2000-01 - 17-1 Miami 1994-95 - 16-2 Ball State 1988-89 - 14-2 Eastern Michigan 1987-88 - 14-2 Central Michigan 1986-87 - 14-2

Running the table is really, really hard.
Let's say you are so dominant that you have a 95% chance of winning each and any individual game in conference....you are still less than even money to run the table.
.95 to the 16th power is 44%.

What is that... Math? I've heard of that.

It was my understanding that there would be no math.

Our team that went 29-3 even lost 2 games in the MAC. This Buffalo team may be better than that team, maybe not, but is certainly close. I sure don't think their coach is as good as Majerus, but they have accumulated very good athletes in numbers that may mean they are deeper in talent. Some physical players, but not extraordinary size necessarily.
They didn't get that talent by stockpiling 3 and 4 star HS recruits, either, but have done a good job with JUCO players and several 2 star HS kids have really been good, exceeding anyone's expectations I would guess.
I haven't followed them so closely to know whether it was player development or just getting a larger number of good athletes and they hit the jackpot.

.95 to the 16th power is 44%. Good work, well done!! Most simulations agree with the forum estimates of 2 or 3 losses.
See here for one computer simulation estimate for all the MAC games. More than few 95%, only a few less than 80%.

Apparently, the straight forward use of a simple exponent qualifies as a freaky, heavy math wizardry around here.
But if I had made some vague reference to an obscure, random quote from a 40 year old movie, everyone would have nodded in immediate understanding.

What’s the odds of a soccer game ending 10-9? 🤔
