I guess it trumps the horrible defense, or the blowing an 11 point lead to cause overtime. Or that we missed the free throw at the end of regulation, which allowed Ap st to tie the game. We all know we managed to win anyway. But most of us also know playing the way we did isn’t going to win many games vs better competition we’re going to see. Like getting our asses handed to us the 3 games prior. We play perhaps at most 3-6 more games against teams as good as those 3 losses.
Buffalo probably the best, plus Loyola neither probably not as good as VT and PU, and perhaps 3 road games in the MAC plus Valpo also more clearly not as good as VT and PU.
We will see those teams as good at their place as Alabama perhaps, but several of those games are where we have better match ups, especially at guard. So under your cloud of doom that might be 6 more losses if we don't come up big in any of them.
While I share your sentiment that we need to improve, I don't rule out improvement, and if we can play at the level we have played (except Alabama) we will have a very good season. If we improve much or get hot at the end of the season, we'll maybe even please most our critical fans.

Didn’t say we wouldn’t get better. Just can’t play like today and expect to win. Mac teams won’t let us off the hook. We haven’t taken care of the ball, opponents are getting a lot more shots up than we, we don’t defend, and we continue to get uneven efforts from the same guys we always have. But, it is early and we’ll improve.

00HMH,
If, probably, maybe and perhaps are the most frequently used words in most of your posts. Just an observation.
I have no idea how the season will end but I can still see fairly well. We played like crap this entire tournament and threw up on our shoes down the stretch today before Persons saved our ass again. I’m glad we won but we don’t look like a very well oiled machine.

I liked the way we came out in overtime, tough and confident.
Overall taking that hot streak into account App State is at the level of MAC teams. At the least equal to the bottom half, equal to most especially when that big guard gets 39 points or whatever he got. Playing as well as we did today we'll win most MAC games.
Yes we are vulerable playing at that level if somebody steps it up.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.............................Wasn't this supposed to be our big year, that's what you kept telling us last season. Bama won't even make the tourney and they kicked our asses for forty minutes. I don't get your point, we weren't even competitive in those three games.

Alabama played well, we did not. But they are also a good team.
Could we beat that team at our best? They played a good game...
Most SEC teams are better than most MAC teams aren't they? And they matched up well.

they are also a good team. Not compared to teams that will be playing in the post season, and once again they kicked our ass. So what is your point ?

Purdue loses to VT by 6 and we lose by 9! Fairly close!
We played well except for a 5 minute stretch of VT game and we were terrible in the Alabama game!
We played also reasonably well most of App State game so for me we had an okay tournament but the most important part is we are healthy and we should get better
