Was able to make it, third time I've seen them this year and they've played pretty well in all 3. I expect that IUPUI team to be pretty solid, the Vandy transfer is really good and they beat BC who is ranked around Alabama by the KenPoms/Sagarins. While there were smaller areas that still merit concern, big picture - a 10 pt win at a top 4 Horizon team is a good W.

Could have easily been a 20+ point game if you eliminate half of the 23 turnovers

Havent read anything here yet. Just watched the game on espn+. Pretty solid effort. Bigs passed and rebounded well. Step forward for Trey, but still not completely back to form. That IUPUI kid was on fire 1st half, but did a better defensive job in the 2nd. A bit of the OC from KJ, and the foul trouble will hurt in MAC play. Quiet but good effort from Mallers and Brachen. Persons was Persons. Turnovers aside, felt pretty good about the effort.
Side note: IUPUI is like a pro soccer team... so... many... flops... and begs for calls. Yeesh. But they aren't a bad team, and though it's not a "quality win" committee-wise by end of season, i see it as a quality road win.

I’d like to win and believe we will but close....82-78 There is no way we are going to score 82pts in this game or against any other decent team. Take IUPUI the three points and the under 147. Hmm...

I gotta call you on this. Our campus IS noted for being beautiful, and certainly better than iupui’s. By who ? Have to agree, Ball State has a beautiful campus. From the old Men’s Gyn to the new evidence halls. My daughter went to IUPUI, that campus has NO character at all.

One other thing. I didn't mind the IUPUI announcers much at all. In fact, they seemed to have a real good grasp on the BSU players from the area. I'm not sure announcer kid has been as good as they two jamokes were in telling us about what these kids did in the local HS ranks. Also, it's always interesting to hear perspective from the other side. We tend to wax poetic on here about lack of length, lack of shooters, softness of the bigs. From the perspective of these guys, our length and outside shooters are a strength, and they talked at length about how good the bigs played together. Some of that is just setting up the next team as a tough threat for interest, no doubt, but it is interesting to see what other fans/teams/announcers think of the makeup of the Cards.

Greg Rakestraw and former Franklin & IUPUI basketball coach Bob Lovel did the game today. Both have been around for a long time with Rakestraw doing the call in show after Colts games and he does a ton of play by play stuff for the IHSAA as well as Lovel. They know there high school basketball players from this state as well as the local college players. Honestly, I rather have these guys do our games as they have a great feel for basketball.

That's Greg Rakestraw, who does a ton of different broadcasts around Indy, but is about as knowledgeable about Indiana High School athletics as anyone. Bob Lovell doing the game with him is a longtime former coach in the state.

We know the plan for justice.. We will allow him to get 30 and hope we shut the others down. Its what we do Actually that can be a decent plan if u don’t have a dominant defense. But u better make sure you accomplish part B of that plan! I think we got pretty close to the plan! He got 28, etc.

Kroft put up 34 last night. 15-15 from the ft line. Watched Kroft tonight in person, put up 25 pts. I’m thinking he was 10-10 from the ft line. Richmond lost.

Some of that is just setting up the next team as a tough threat for interest. That's all that was today. I've heard both announcers enough to know they're always complimentary. All the coaches are good coaches, all the players work hard and have talent. I'm sure they see warts, but they very rarely mention them. And that's fine. I really have no problem with that. Especially from the perspective of being IUPUI announcers, if your team wins or loses you want it to beat or get beat by a "good-looking team," not one with warts. Today's win was nice, a good win. And while we've done some nice things in the past 3 games, we are not a greatly different team than we were when we left Charleston. But hopefully moving in the right direction.
