Why are we playing Evansville twice in our non-conference schedule? Was there some sort of reasoning behind it or just something we decided to do for shits and/or giggles?

[br Both teams couldn’t find another home game so they both decided to schedule each other twice to fill a home game for each team. Pretty sure we get Evansville at home next year in the deal.

I like home in home before conference with a decent team like this. Good prep for MAC play. We should do it every year and avoid a cupcake game.

I wonder on home and home series if it is not a money game.

Would rather play them twice than Tiffin or many of the other cupcakes that we've had on the schedule over the past two years. Why not do that with Valpo, IUPUI, Ft. Wayne, Evansville and possibly some others. Good competition and lesser travel expenses

Where is Longwood when we need them? Morehead State anyone?

We could have a damned good mid major tourney with those schools, a state championship.

Would fill out schedules for all. Because the NCAA only allows a team one exempt tourney per year. You don't want to use it on that. You could do something formatted like the Crossroads Classic, but I don't think there is much of an interest.

You could do something formatted like the Crossroads Classic, but I don't think there is much of an interest. You're probably right on the interest, but if there were a day when BSU, PFW, IUPUI, Valpo, ISU and Evansville all played - 3 games back-to-back-to-back with rotating pairings year to year - I'd go. I think it would be a mistake to try to hold it some place like Bankers Life, but rotating it through campus sites might be good. I think all the schools have arenas available that could host such an event and I would think fan bases might travel fairly well for the distances involved, especially if a couple of those schools ever actually become NCAA tournament competitive again. Maybe the biggest issue might be that you've got three MVC schools there who might not want a third game against a league team. Even then though, you could just shorten the rotation of pairings so they always play a non-league team in this event.

I was thinking same thing about MVC schools. Probably wouldn't work for that reason.

The 3 MVC schools play the other three schools. The problem would be a school like us who is playing all 3 of them in regular season games now.

Not really that hard to figure out. You get everyone to commit to a 3-year contract.
If you say the MVC schools are never going to play each other, that means a school like BSU will always play an MVC school.
So say Year 1 we play ISU, Year 2 we play Valpo, Year 3 we play Evansville.
We know who we're playing in this event each year so if we want to schedule any of the other schools we just schedule them like we currently do.
