So Cardfan...you're saying Pete makes all the offensive play calls?? I'm saying Pete makes it clear how he wants things done. And I know from ppl VERY close to the program that Pete meddles in the offense and kids are very frustrated. Trust CardFan on this one. I think we have the players on offense. Dont think Petes scheme is working. Your 2-6. You gotta..GOTTA pull out all the stops the next 4 games.

Ill Echo Cardfans statements Joey is limited to call the plays in Petes Scheme of the week which never really changes.. When we fall behind and cant run the scripted scheme we see Riley move the ball

How many home wins has BSU had in the last 2 years....
Colgate (2014) Akron (2014) Eastern Michigan (2014) VMI (2015) CMU (2013 Miami (2013)
I will say I am please on how well we competed today, but still... Having this kind of record in his 5th year... After last weeks beautiful performance, I didn't expect to win today, but there were a few times I had a glimmer of hope and a salvaged bowl season but that was just the beers thinking..

Petes not going anywhere. Which I think he deserves a shot. Another bad year and he is done. But he really needs too look at this program he built. See that they might(they definately do) need some changes. Top to bottom.

Pete is locked in at Bsu with his contract. I'm concerned that he lacks the burning desire to win. I don't mean he doesn't want to win, but does he BURN to win. I really don't think so. Look at our yards per pass today. FOUR. If Pete didn't want that we wouldn't do it. Any HC not happy with the gameplan/calls would step in and demand it change. Do you guys see any change out there? Last week he just paced up and down the sideline. Never reacted to anything. Never got involved other than to tell players to get back from the sideline. But, he IS constantly talking on his headset. I just can't tell how badly he wants it anymore. We never go for broke. Never go for the throat anymore. Why is that? He keeps talking about not wanting to put too much on Neal. Well, passes for negative yards certainly doesn't put much on him.

Well, we agree on our performance Cardfan, but I don't blame Pete for telling Assts how he wants things done... I believe many coaches would do the same...but not throwing down field, etc. is crazy regardless of who is making the call....are you saying Pete also called those crazy trick plays, and who made the call 4th and goal in the first half for the touchdown??

His play calling in general is button-down conservative, but then he goes for it on fourth down to end the first half and again on fourth down with about 3-4 minutes left in the game. In both instances, I probably would have kicked it, but both decisions worked out OK for him. I just don't understand why he takes the chances on fourth down in crucial situations, but not on first, second and third down during the majority of the game. It seems contradictory.

Ill Echo Cardfans statements Joey is limited to call the plays in Petes Scheme of the week which never really changes.. When we fall behind and cant run the scripted scheme we see Riley move the ball My questions are: 1. Is Pete is such a dominating/controlling personality that he won't allow anyone to vary from the script. 2. Or, does Pete just lack confidence in Joey to the point where he feels the need to control, perhaps more than he has in the past? 3. Or, does Joey lack the ability/personality/cajones/game-calling ability to convince Pete otherwise. I think blame can go two ways. Certainly, the HC is responsible, but I also think good middle managers (coordinators) are effective at managing up, convincing their bosses what needs to be done to succeed. Pete controlling the offense is one thing; Joey's inability to manage up is another.

I think too many people give Joey a bad name because his dad. I think Joey can call a game just only has certain plays Pete will call.

Whatever they are doing and whoever is doing it, it's not working. Joey went off vs niu and they promptly put him back in the genie bottle. I just cannot understand the thinking. Averaging 4 yards a pass in a two point loss where we trailed quite a bit of the game just makes zero sense.

I didn't have any issue with the play calling today. I thought both sides did fine. There was just a miss in execution on some things. It was nice to see the D be aggressive for once... And I know you guys disagree, but I think we actually need to RUN the ball more. I don't mind Neal running and actually thought he had plenty of opportunities that he didn't take today.. The coach needs to figure out if he wants to let him do the Lynch/Harnish NIU thing, or to be a pocket passer like Davis/Wenning.. Even thought we lost, I thought the team was night and day in terms of energy than last week.

I think we should run more too, to be honest, and I agree our execution was not good. We haven't executed well at all the last couple of games. We have two good backs and Riley can run. We just don't seem to stick with any one thing, other than too many very short throws. We had success early in the season running the ball.

I'm not against running the ball at all. Its more when and how we run the ball or when and why we did not run the ball. We are the most predictable team Ive ever seen. Rewatch the 3rd quarter for examples of all
