We can't pay nearly enough. Couldn't even get Dakich. Dakich was never under consideration. But surely you'd be happy to see him replace Whit? But as I said we couldn't afford him anyway.

The theme is whit has yet to actually win anything of significance. True, but even at a slow pace, the program is getting better. Hard to dispute that.

On a side note, I just read that Wichita State pays Marshall $3M per year.

Hey dumbass, Gregg Marshall was the same guy when he was making $250,000/year and taking Winthrop to seven tourney appearances. Do you think elite coaches start-off making huge paychecks ? You might be the dumbest human walking the planet.

And look at the success. 150 ranked in the country, where the coach is envy of his peers with a $225K contract plus bonus and they have top team in conference.
AND, Home and home with Longwood!

What the F--- does that have to do with anything, other than further validate my point quality coaches are available if you make a good hire.

Consider the 10 schools in that conference that pay the same level. How many have had the glorious success of attracting a coach who could lead them to the top 150 and win the (low level D1 conference) consistently?
Back to the OVC! That strategy might work there.
OTOH. Hey. That's what we paid Rick Majerus! It would have to work!

So you are arguing it's almost impossible to hire an excellent coach in the MAC even though Gregg Marshall spent nine seasons in a worse conference. You are a f--king idiot.

No, what I clearly said is that following that strategy of hiring cheap, 9 of 10 schools managed to NOT hire an excellent coach of that caliber. AND that current Winthrop success following that same strategy is a little unimpressive. OR. That maybe you would happy if we moved down to a lower level conference to get that NCAA bid more often at that level.
If any of that is your strategy for "success," I don't buy it.

OTOH, in your favor supporting your sweeping logic for success through paying low salaries it is true that we have done pretty well hiring a coach on the cheap with Whit.
Much better than average luck to get this far. But. We paid a price.
It meant suffering through OJT.
It meant we took a chance that things could turn out NOT to work at all. Like all those other schools who followed that strategy.
It also meant a quick turn around like Majerus accomplished when we hired him at a pretty good salary for the day was probably not in the cards. This is not the 1980's and that 250K bought a lot more coach then...Marshall wasn't Rick Majerus when he was hired on the cheap.

What the f--k are you talking about ? Is it even possible for you accurately portray anyone's thoughts. This is exactly why I say you are like dealing with a seven year old.
