I'm worried about this game particularly in Toledo...we are a 5 point underdog. If we win this game, I believe we will outperform my pre-season prediction of 12-6.
Go Cards! We need a big game from our Seniors.

Our rating will plummet as we play each other Plummet? I see the argument for a drop. Relative to the top conferences our in conference schedules are significantly weaker.
Our relatively high current standing should make the drop less severe than it usually is.
But compared to MVC and other conferences ranked just below us, I don't see that. We should maintain the league ranking. Maybe the conferences now just above us will gain a little separation, but not that much.
As for our top teams, as long as our top 3 continue winning games in conference they will stay high. Especially in RPI. Wins count a lot there. Have to win by a good margin to stay high in power ratings.
Ok. Drop.

Ok. Drop. The MAC will probably drop 3-4 spots.

The MAC will probably drop 3-4 spots. Which 3 or 4 conferences have such advantage to go up above us? What rating system were you thinking about?

The MAC will probably drop 3-4 spots. Which 3 or 4 conferences have such advantage to go up above us? What rating system were you thinking about? The MAC is being propped up by Buffalo's completely unsustainable current RPI of 7. The conference numbers are so tightly packed that any slip-up by Buffalo is going to drop the entire conference. Hell Buffalo could go undefeated in the MAC, but the lack of future Top 50 wins will cause them to significantly drop. Buffalo's Composite ranking is 26th which is far more realistic than the current RPI. www.masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htm

MVC is down & will not get back to where they were nationally with their current teams. The replacements for Wichita & Creighton are not nearly as strong.
I doubt Buffalo is as good as our 90 team.

The MAC is not stronger than it has ever been. The talent in college basketball is more spread out. Pair this with stronger conferences pulling the better teams from conferences like the MVC and A10 (for example) and the MAC's ranking in comparison to the 30+ other conferences is higher. This should not be confused with the quality of basketball being played. It is better than is was 3-5 years ago no question, but compared to the 1990's no way. Totally agree, and it's not even close.

Watched game at 3 Wise Men in Downtown Muncie. Surprisingly good pizza and surprisingly good game. Toledo record overrated.

Some totally meaningless stats from the TeamCast site... With the win, BSU jumped to 58th in their rankings, and is listed as 5th team out of the at-large for the NCAA. Also, the season prediction shot up to 23-8 (14-4). This is a few games up, though before this game the only games they had the Cards as outright underdogs in conference was this game and the Buffalo game. That didn't change. Again, useless (no way BSU is the 5th team out), but fun to look at...
