In this mornings Star Press write-up on last nights loss, Whitford said he was not worried and we are fine. O Gara called him not “results-oriented”. I know Whit is always preaching trust the process, process, process but that is just frustrating. Again I know his philosophy is if we play the right way the wins will come. However, winning and losing and results are ultimately what mattter. If the process doesn’t yield the desired result then you either change the process or the coach. Hard to imagine that Saturday’s game at CMU is basically a must win and we’re only at the quarter pole of the conference season. Very disappointing.

It’s what we’ve complained about for awhile now. We are what we are with whit and there isn’t much more. And if he thinks having 3 times As many turnovers as assists and allowing so many offensive rebounds while not guarding anyone without fouling is “playing the right way” then we’ll never go anywhere.
Playing with effort and energy should be a given, not a reason for attaboys after a loss. “We’re fine.”
Fundamentals, focus, playing hard and execution should be the foundation and backbone of a program. Instead “the process” is what we care about Whatever that is. It’s cold. Dispassionate. Analytics driven. Doesn’t make adjustments. Isn’t achieving results. But results aren’t the goal ....

If a 1-3 conference start makes us “fine” it makes me wonder what the “goal” just might be in Whitford’s strategery. Is it 20 wins, MAC West, MAC tournament, not get fired, make fine men, ....... ?

OHHHHHHHH! NOW, I get it! Now I see why some of us are fine with just one MAC tourney win in an entire coaching career. A MAC tourney win is a RESULT, which are not particularly important. Now I can scoff at brain-dead Akron and Buffalo fans who are all hung up on their post season results.

Buffalo is straight up dominating and doing big things—- but are they playing the right way?

Whit is who he is & BSU fans & staff know it. Question is this acceptable coaching? No not to me & most on this board. But the bigger question is it fine with his Boss?

Do not rock the boat win 18-20 games. Maybe make an nit or really get lucky and make the tourney.. Lifelong contract

I suspect you are correct & if so it is going to be a long season. My impression is like stated by Evansville's coach to his players drive on us we are soft!I think that to me is the biggest weakness I continually see in Whit's teams. Only Persons seem to continually try to play tough & all out. I hate to think Whit will be here beyond 2020 because I can't see his teams changing in their approach.

I am not real sure about that, Geoffrey Mearns canned a guy at NKU named Dave Bezold whose situation was not all that dissimilar to James Whitford's. Mearns pulled the plug pretty quickly when it became apparent Bezold wasn't the guy to get NKU over the hump.

Word on the street is Mearns saved Neu last year because we could simply not afford to make a move

This team has taken on the coaches persona. Persons is the Alpha dog and the rest play passive and soft. When was the last time you saw one of our players blow someone off the block or stick an elbow in someone's ribs? You have to have some inner city hitmen on your roster if you want to gain respect from the rest of the league. Our M.O. is if we get punched in the mouth, we are finished. Whitfords teams have lacked physical and mental toughness and there really is no debate anymore.
