1-3 BSU heads to Alabama this next weekend. Bama went 2-1 vs. Presby.
Hoping Baker is healthy. It'll be good to have Jameson and Baker throwing back to back.
All three games are to be televised on SEC Network+, which I think will show on ESPN3.
Southern schools hosting northern schools on weekends this time of year get the advantage of mid-week games to keep in get mode. Bama had J'ville State on Monday and has Alabama State on Wednesday.

I hope the pitchers can start cutting the walks down & we quit making twice as any errors as the opponents. That would make us much more competitive.

Our pitching kryptonite is BB’s and HBP’s
I’m assuming Baker will be on a short pitch count. Hope Drey can keep the momentum.
Our “relievers” haven’t provided much relief yet. Even in the win we were leaking oil on the back stretch.

If you are heading to Tuscaloosa to see the game, pack all your rain gear. It's been raining here, 60 miles north of Tuscaloosa, for days. No end in sight.
Go Cards!

RF I see Alabama cancelled their game with Alabama State today. Sewell-Thomas Stadium was renovated in 2015-16. Supposed to be one of the nicest college facilities in the nation. From pictures, it looks like they stayed with natural grass in the field. Hoping none of the BSU games get cancelled.

Jameson hurt, and it looked pretty bad. Ugh.

If we can get 1 in Alabama, we should have some innings behind us to really see what happens in Charleston.
A “no show” in Charleston could be a bad omen.

Alabama is a lower tier SEC program. We should be able to pull a win this weekend. If not, we’ll need to figure things out.
Watching the game our defense looks like a team that doesn’t have the benefit of an large indoor practice facility. When outfielders cannot hit cutoffs men, and aren’t reading the fade on pop flies, you are missing the advantage of a large indoor facility. The coaches told the ESPN announcers we’ve only practiced outside 4 times this year. It shows. It’s a good thing Jameson is getting Ks, because I’m not sure if his supporting D is ready.
I realize BSU is facing Bama’s Friday pitcher, and he has great control of his four pitches, but man, we are check swinging a lot. We are not reading pitches well. Maybe we are guessing and not reading. Either way, we need to fix it. We go after this pitcher early in the count and make sloppy contact. He isn’t that elusive. Also, our two strike swings look like our no strike swings. We seem to be long and looking to pull, rather than battle this guy deep into the pitch count. Hell, their pitcher only threw 4 pitches in the 1st inning. 70 total pitches in 7 innings (10 per inning. WTF?)
Pitching wise, we allowed inning lead off batters to reach base 50% of the game. Of those four lead off hitters, three scored. We gave up 7 hits, 7 walks and 2 HBPs.
In our first 5 games, we have issued 42 hits, 31 walks, 7 HBPs and 13 errors.
Hopefully, we use the time in Tuscaloosa to practice outside, in between games.

Good start in the second game for the Cards. Cards lead 2-0, bases loaded and one out in the top of the second.
Go Cards!
