Just thought I would write a note on a Saturday morning about how much I love Ball State University and it's football program. Hope springs eternal at the beginning of the season but we do not have to win 'em all to be a success this go 'round. I believe if this team can come through with five solid wins, jobs will be saved and our young staff may be on the road to recruiting another group of fine young men to represent this university. Reports out of Muncie say we are showing huge improvements in the D-backfield and our O-line is SOLID along with our running game. That alone is a great start not to mention more strength, stamina, and savvy across the board. I was depressed early in the year with our chances to pull this squad out of the doldrums but I believe they can get the job done. No matter what our out of conference record is the conference is the key. Early losses in the MAC and we are in trouble but a couple of MAC wins early could propel us into a productive season. If I were IU I would be afraid...Very Afraid. Ya gotta believe. I am drinkin the KoolAid and it pretty good. It is much better than the vinegar the naysayers are sippin'. Go Cardinals.

Just hope we're not all drinking it. We can afford to lose one person off the board, but not all of us. Again, just hope it ain't all "coach talk' from which your getting the reports and confidence. I, as most all of us, would love to see us win 6 or 7, but man it's hard to picture it happening.

I am drinkin the KoolAid and it pretty good .... Go Cardinals. This is the essence of fan forums, as is the the naysayer element and its vinegar cocktail. Independent rational thought, zen like calm in the face of disappointments, would probably make either extreme of real life pretty boring.

Some who see themselves as having "zen-like calm in the face of disappointments" may be seen by others as "continually making lame excuses for failure".

I'd love to eat crow on my 4-8 pick. Last academic yr tempered my hopes on most BSU athletic teams for the following season but I always want the best and would never want the opposite to thumb my nose and say I told you so.

Some are acting like I just predicted the Rose Bowl for us. I said I hoped for 5 wins. I believe that is a POSSIBILITY. Don't over read into my hope that I am the Manchurian Candidate. I simply like Neu and and him to succeed. If he does not we will have to start over and it will not be easy.

Four wins, not happy. Five wins, not happy, but depending on the play during the losses, I could maybe live with it. I expect six wins. Six wins and i am happy. We will have made progress. Then saying wait tell next year has a new meaning. Six wins!

I'd have to pretty much agree, david75bsu. Six would show progress, which we haven't shown under this administration.

You know......we really haven’t had a consistently “good” football coach since 1977.
1977!!!!! That is 42 freaking years ago.
I’m with Sherm, offer a young, new guy a 2-3 year opportunity and see where it takes you. It CAN’T be worse than our “search” process keeps giving us.

I agree either young with something to prove or someone old who still has a love for the game
