Well non conference is done and we are sitting right where most people thought we would be record wise 1-3. Its a different feeling 1-3 than I had Imagined though and I think I might be more frustrated. We played IU closer than I thought we would, Fordham we smashed which was expected. Fau I thought we would lose and we did but if not for self inflicted wounds we could have won the game. NC State again feels like a game we could have possibly won. I might be stretching a bit but it feels like we could be 2-2 - 2 or maybe even 3-1. Now both FAU and NC State could end up being horrible teams and our valiant efforts could end up just being losses to to really bad teams.
Now its conference time and we have 8 games left. Ive said since the end of last year I thought we were a 3 maybe 4 win team but I think Im going to bump that up to 4 maybe 5 win team. IN order to do that though everything has to be cleaned up.

I am sticking with six wins. This team still has the opportunity to clean things up and be a real good team. They are entertaining.

I’m going to stick with 4 wins because the things that need to be cleaned up are the same things as Neus first year. So they just won’t get cleaned up.
We looked really good at times last night. At other times we looked like Fordham could beat us. We are unable to put a full game together. Have to remember the NC state qb was not good. MAC QBs will shred our secondary. Like always. So we’ll need to be able to win games 48-45. That ain’t happening.

Totally agree and I see the talent and improvement is there which I find encouraging to say the least. Unless we fall apart and only win one or two more games I would not want to see Coach Neu and staff be replaced. We have a lot of guys coming back next year and young talent that will contribute. Been pleased over all with the play of Drew Plitt as we can win with him at QB.

If we don’t clean up the dumb mistakes we won’t win conference games. Simple as that. All the top MAC teams are better than NC state. Hell, even Cmu gave Miami everything it could handle.
And our secondary has to be able to cover better talent than what nc state had.

I’m sticking with my 5-7 prediction. I think we might get a surprise win against NIU or WMU, but I think we are in too big a hole to get to 6 wins. This team is capable though.

We have to win 5/6 games or we are back to square one with a new staff.

We have to win 5/6 games or we are back to square one with a new staff. But with a good hire we’re not back To Square one. We have better talent now.

Who do you consider the top of the MAC? After Northern and Toledo, I don’t see much power Maybe CMU. We have improved, cut down the mistakes and we could be a very good MAC team.

We have better players now than we have had in a long time. Neu flipped the roster and minus a few positions we are at least playing with MAC level players. The top 4-5 MAC teams would beat NC state. Problem is most of those teams are in the west. The staff has to find a way to clean up or limit the stupid mistakes we are making. I cant blame the staff for all of them though the overthrows interceptions fumbles are n the players you have to hope those plays spread themselves out and stop happening multiple times every game. We have to hope our D keeps improving a little bit. I thought Wilborn looked more comfortable yesterday. We have to find a pash rush. I hope I do not jinx this but our play calling is much better and I like this years offensive scheme. That brings up the question as to why we have not played like this since NEu's arrival. Were we playing to Rileys skill set?

There seems to an difference of opinion just how good our athletes are. Some say we will be lucky to win one or two in the MAC. I would say the jury is still out on our talent until we see a few in conference games.

I would say the jury is still out on our talent until we see a few in conference games. Im not sure how good our players really are but they are just better than what we have had on the field recently. Are our players as talented as NIU/Tol/WMU/EMU across the board probably not but we at least appear to have FBS level kids now. For a few years we have been relying on kids who had no business playing FBS football. I agree NIU game will tell us more about where we really stand

I don’t question most of the talent. But watching Us play we just can’t put 4 qtrs of good football together. Otherwise we might be 3-1.
