He was also involved - albeit not directly - in accusations that the Langford family accepted $100,000 from Adidas for Romeo to sign with IU. I don't think he outright claimed it, but he might have retweeted something without first sourcing it properly, etc. It's something like that, I don't care enough to dig for details. That's the kind of thing that gets a radio station sued, and his suspension could be an attempt to ward off litigation.
Emmis isn't doing themselves any favors by being vague about it, though. Just feeds the rumor mill. But, it's ultimately an HR issue so I can see why they're being scant with the details.

That doesn't make him unique in sports talk radio. That's not the kind of thing that gets you suspended. Now, the shoe/Langford thing, I could see some pressure there, but Emmis doesn't normally cave to that kind of pressure. It's more of a badge of honor, especially with the whole NBA/China/Shoe company fiasco going on right now. |
