FWIW, I just did a search on my posts with the word "Fleck" in them and stand by everything I've said in them. Unfortunately this board only goes back to 2016. I even admitted being wrong about him in a post from January: "After his first year I thought PJ Fleck was a incompetent moron. Now I just think he's a moron." Read more: overthepylon.boards.net/user/140/recent#ixzz63qjjyIJgI think that was the main takeaway. I still think he’s a phony used car salesmen jackass douchewagon. But he obviously is a good coach. So you're a big fan?

I don't remember specific posters, but I distinctly remember that Fleck was widely ridiculed on this forum his first year and beyond. And it was quite clear that the ridicule extended beyond his personal weirdness to his coaching ability. "row the boat" was mentioned frequently and derisively.
If you assert that I wouldn't have supported a struggling first year coach, I'd say it's up to you to provide proof and examples...not me. Actually I have been more tolerant of our failed basketball coaches in their early career than what they deserved. I admit that mistake and have learned from it. Because you only look stupider when you refuse to admit an obvious mistake. Hint. Hint. Going the 00 route doesn't make you look smarter. I haven't refused to admit any mistake. I specifically pointed out that my post was not saying that "we" weren't mistaken about Fleck. If you assert I was mistaken about Fleck, I'd say it's up to you to provide proof and examples...not me. Because you only look more hypocritical when blasting an entire group for lacking sagacious insights where would have not provided any more sagacious insights. Hint. Hint.
And mentioning row the boat frequently and derisively I would characterize as criticism of his absurd personal behavior. It's a compelling story and all, but to adopt oars and an entire nautical theme into the Western Michigan Bronco football team is absurd personal behavior.
I am sure you are right. Isn't this a press conference from last year? "Ah, but the strawberries, that's, that's where I had them, they laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, with geometric logic, that a duplicate key to the ward room icebox did exist, and I've had produced that key if they hadn't pulled the boat out of action. I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officer............................................,...................,......... Naturally, I can only cover these things from memory. If I left anything out, why, just ask me specific questions and I'll be glad to answer them, one by one."

Minnesota has quietly rolled to an 8-0 record. Looking at their opponents, their best win is against Nebraska (and this is not your Tom Osborne type of Nebraska, who just lost to IU) at home. Their schedule has turned out to be pretty weak, but if they can win one against Penn State, Iowa, or even Wisconsin, Fleck might be looking at a major payday. Florida State may be looking at him, if they're willing to move on from Willie Taggart. As annoying as I find Fleck, the guy can coach, and gets players to buy in to the plan. Especially considering the lack of historical success at Minnesota, if he can win there, he can probably win anywhere. I can't see him leaving Minnesota at this point. He just turned the corner with the program. The fans love him. He's recruiting well. I can see him staying another 4-6 years, just to prove consistency. Don't disagree about leaving Minnesota, but the WMU football boards are talking about him going to USC.

The great thing about OTP is how we can all gather around and debate the misery we inflict on other schools and topics because we have an overflow of misery to share. Good Times.

$3.6M annual salary goes to $4.6M. Buyout moves to $10M-4.5M-3.0M
His boat just got twin-300’s in place of oars.

PJ is still just a real total DB, no matter how successful his programs have become Dang dude I was rooting for MN as well.. I felt dirty but really now that his boat has left the MAC I guess I do not hate him as much. For years I said he had to be dirty but he has been doing it so long now it looks as if he runs a pretty clean ship(everyone cheats in some way). At some point you gotta respect what he has done
