Currently Ball State is 24th in adjusted defensive efficiency in the country but 260th in adjusted offensive efficiency. Its not shocking watching our grind it out games, but still catches my attention. If BSU was even in 140s offensively theyd probably have 4 more wins.
That said, I was very happy with the road win tonight.

Offensively it’s a struggle for us. Defensively we’re very good. We have to win ugly.

I'll take ugly wins over a pretty loss every time. Kind of hard to watch though.

Reminds of the Dick Hungsucker (sp) games! Loved those years. Like Ball State defense this year, held Kent to 24 points under their average!

On a negative note (shocking, I know), Bumbalough’s shooting is just not coming around. He’s not adding assists or steals, but is getting a LOT of minutes.
I assume he is throttling the opponent’s leading scorers defensively?

Personally I would look at reducing Luke’s minutes. Maybe even bring him off the bench. Tell him just just relax and attack with the second unit. He’s just not getting much done in the minutes he gets.

At least the defense is something you can bring every night, no matter what else is happening. I've wanted Whit's teams to develop something, anything that might distinguish themselves, provide something of a trademark. If it's defense, I can live with that.

He’s just not getting much done in the minutes he gets. He played fewer minutes this game, so it appears you and Whit are on the same wavelength. Scary thought for you, perhaps.
He's certainly got more scoring potential. He is playing surprisingly good defense. Not by any means all that good, but better than expected and he is fitting in very well, except for not being able to hit a shot for his life...
I suspect they don't want to make so many changes since the team D is pretty good with him in there, and they hope he starts hitting. But I always thought that would be his role this year, a spark off the bench. Then use KJ to apply more pressure on D, generate some offense that way. Didn't work out that.

I definitely like the defense----not sure it's the "lockdown" of the Majerus/Hunsaker years, but still very good (remember, Keith Stallings made an opponent actually quit/walk off the floor in a game at Irving once!). The offense makes me scratch my head a lot. To take nearly 30 3 point shots, yet only come away with 62 points is interesting to say the least! Oh well, it's a win!!!

You can make money off us with the under in Vegas spreads in our MAC games. I will say if we don't hit 70% or better from the foul line vs WMU it could be a real struggle because they will hack Teague all night. They will go in figuring they have 15 fouls to put on him.
