From Longwood to Lil Dicky. The downward trajectory continues.

This is exciting for me and a lot of my friends on campus. Hopefully the tickets won't be to outrageous but I'm looking forward to it.

Always wondered why BSU did not host more concerts in Worthen Arena.
I had heard that the loading dock was poorly design and a lot of trucks used by touring bands could not load/unload properly.
Or, it could just be more underutilization of facilities by the administration.

In all seriousness , the dock doesn’t appear to have been designed with multiple big trucks in mind like the big name bands tour with. But it worked out ok when we had concerts those first few years. I think another issue was seating. They didn’t have enough good seats they could sell to generate enough revenue to afford name bands. It was decided emens could accommodate any act that we could afford and attract. We couldn’t compete with Indy and other cities with larger arenas/football stadiums and larger audience bases.
And, I had heard there was some concern on the part of the facility manager that concerts would take a toll in terms of wear and tear. Don’t know how much validity there was in that.

Hell, you budget each event to cover maintenance from the event. Just sounds lazy. I can understand Delaware/Madison County not being able to feed attendance to justify the use of Emens, but I do know folks in Indy that will drive to Lafayette, Bloomington when particular acts come to town. Heavy advertising might help. You need to educate the public to the fact that there is a quality venue option available in Muncie, that is only 45 minutes away from Castleton/Keystone area. If Worthen has been used in the past, I cannot remember ever hearing in the Indianapolis media of a band, or other act appearing at Worthen.

That explains why they’ e done so little to make us want to attend basketball games too. In 20 years Worthen will be a pristine shrine to what BSU basketball could have been.

Acoustics in Worthen are terrible.
The dome is designed to be loud, not for clarity.

Basically it was a bunch of issues (acoustics, cost, etc.) that led them to quit hosting concerts. Like I said, most acts they can afford can be accommodated by Emens.
