Having met Kyle I never would have seen this coming. Never. It's beyond explanation. Tony must be dying.

If you really want to lose your dinner: drive.google.com/viewerng/viewer?url=https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/2704406/CriminalComplaint.pdfIt sounds like not only was Cox hell-bent on having sex with this kid, but Park Tudor spent about 3 weeks withholding crucial evidence to the police while they figured out how to cover their own ass. This is a 20/20 episode waiting to happen. Pure speculation, but I'd bet the head of the school who committed suicide after the search warrant was executed knew that the entire house of cards was about to come crashing down on everyone who had anything to do with this. The school absolutely shit the bed, and they're about to be crucified in the court of public opinion. BTW, high school tuition at Park Tudor is just north of 20K per year. Starting to get national attention. ABC, Sporting News has early coverage already according to Google News. I am sure more to follow. The really sad thing is not exactly how often we have seen this happen, although it is too often. The cover up angle is a good catch, farva. It's a little like the sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests it is not only shocking and nobody wants to believe it, but it is probably common that these incidents are mostly covered up. I am not sure how the suicide part of the story makes much sense unless the headmaster was involved in some way in something culpable. Park Tudor issued a statement that it was unrelated, of course. This link may work for some better than farva's

Jeez. Up until these revelations, I had been thinking Cox may have possibly been the victim of some overzealous, exaggerated police activity. Guess not.
Cox's actions are bad enough and deserve a strong punishment, but you could say he gave in to out-of-control urges. The school and their attorney, on the other hand, are just pure cold-blooded slime. I don't know the law, but I sure hope that lawyer can be charged with something. He deserves jail.
Can we now drop the BS that the suicide was unrelated?

Kind of a staggering series of blunders here given Park Tudor's reputation.
I'm floored that the girl's father actually handed her laptop and phone over to the school before going to the police. And the fact that they let Cox take his school-issued computer home overnight to remove "personal" files from it AFTER HE WAS FIRED is absolutely mind-boggling. You couldn't make this stuff up.
Still can't get past a 31-year old married father, teacher, and coach telling a male teenager that he'd look the other way if he "messed her up". I hope a prison guard looks the other way while someone messes him up.

It's sordid, ugly, reprehensible, etc, on Cox's and Park Tudor's part.

IBJ gives Park Tudor focus to their reportThere is a criminal charge of accessory after the fact if there was intent to conceal a crime. They did make a required report, but omitted detail. The IBJ article says they are "accused" but they are not named as a defendant in the complaint.

More on Park Tudor angle: Blame on handling aftermath / Park tudor and DCS Attorney Client privilge?Bad national press for Park TudorAttorney cannot withhold evidence of criminal client when it is requested, sometimes hard to draw the line on what is privileged communication which is protected. In addition he may have an affirmative duty to turn it over under the child porn statute. In this case the attorney who held the evidence is a Park Tudor attorney, a business lawyer for them, not Cox's attorney, probably. May have no privilege with respect to Cox, but his client is a potential defendant too, so the Park Tudor lawyer is now at some risk. In any case, the idea of what criminal intent would be in this kind of case may mean there is enough doubt about that element that the lawyer is never prosecuted for possessing the porn, unless they find more evidence of intentional obstruction of justice.

OK, so his actions were extremely reprehensible, but life in prison? If I am remembering correctly, he never actually touched the student. Isn't life in prison the same thing you would get if you tortured and ax-murdered a busload of nuns and orphans?

I don't understand that either. I guess Jared Vogle should be put to death, then.

Not much chance of that life sentence. 5 years jail time, even with reductions is pretty steep minimum penalty, though, and may be too much in many cases under this statute.
I suspect the prosecutor uses discretion not to prosecute in many cases, but this one in a school setting is hard to just ignore.

I think it's just an attention grabbing headline. I bet he'll plea bargain down to get it over with and will probably spend a few months locked up. After that, he'll be working at Goodwill for the rest of his life.
I knew a guy who was a high school guidance counselor and coach who actually carried on a sexual affair with a high school student whom he coached, and he only spent a few months locked up. His life is deservedly ruined, he's lost his job, his wife, and just about every friend he had, but he wasn't locked up for all that long. I'm not opining on the subject, just stating facts (although I think they should put these assholes away for many, many years). Wait, I just opined.
