Don Shondell was found unresponsive and rushed to the hospital Thursday according to the Star. Later he was talking but dehydrated and had an infection of the urinary tract I believe. The old coach is the best we have ever had on our campus and we need him to stay around a lot longer. Keep him in your thoughts.

When I was a Soph I broke the record for BSU for the highest vertical jump ever to that date....its since been eclipsed several times, but after I recorded this jump I got a call from one of Don's Assistants inquiring if I would have any interest in Volleyball as a walk on initially. I preferred Mr. B's.

He had pneumonia and was released a few days later. That's all I've been able to find.

A great (but long) read about the history of the Ball State volleyball program and the impact of the Shondell family. I discovered it while perusing the Daily News site - the article is a couple of months old - but very entertaining for those who love Ball State volleyball: enterprise.ballstatedaily.com/Shondell.html#start
