With Michigan canceling their game against Maryland, due to spiking COVID cases within the program, there's some concern that, as a final "fuck you" to Ohio State as Harbaugh gets fired, Michigan will also cancel their game in Columbus. That would leave the Buckeyes at 5-0 (assuming they beat MSU this weekend), but ineligible for the B1G Championship game, and likely keep them out of the CFP.
While I think that would be hilarious, it would also degrade the integrity of the CFP (however much there is). OSU is obviously one of the best teams in the land, so I think the B1G would set up another conference game for them, even if they had to pressure someone to cancel to free up an opponent. The problem is who would they get? NW and Illinois play each other, along with Purdue and IU. They're not likely to upset rivalry games, so that limits them severely.
Or the B1G could try to force Michigan to play anyway.
This will be interesting to see how it plays out.
