Started thinking about this in relation to football, but really it'll affect all sports.
Should players who get an extra year because of COVID receive the dreaded asterisks in the recordbook?
I think most people are anti-asterisks anymore, but it's undeniably going to boost some players. Plitt, for instance, will undoubtedly move past several players next year in the passing records.
It's not like you're adding a full season of stats since this season dearly was shortened, but two-thirds of a season is quite a boost. Who knows what an extra 42 receptions, 600 yards and 8 TDs might mean in the record book for Tyler if he stays his full time?
Not sure what this might mean in other sports, but I imagine a kid like Bumbalough, if he ever gets his shot consistently figured out, could make quite a dent in the record books with an extra 25 games to his credit.
