So I tuned in CBS to watch the pre-game and instead got a three hour lecture on social justice issues. I understand bringing up the subject but enough is enough.

That is predictable. I imagine the commercials will be more of the same.

Look at you, waving around your white privilege.
So many people had to work during the Super Bowl. Or don't have a TV. Or a data plan to stream it on their phones.
You disgust me. And I ate Indian food once, so that means something.

I wasn't exactly watching with rapt attention as the pregame was in the background as I made dinner, but I noticed there was not the usual amount of football analysis. Or maybe there was and this show was just much longer?
My guess is they have found that for this game more than regular season games that having analysts on talking technical football for a long time doesn't really have as much audience. They can sell more Ads with human interest. The Super Bowl is an odd cultural event, and of course a great excuse for a viewing party, really aimed at a broad audience, some not that interested in football...Most viewers aren't even followers of either team.

That is predictable. I imagine the commercials will be more of the same. This was an odd year, the ads almost had to deal with the pandemic changing our world.
I was surprised how much air time Paramount bought to promote their new streaming service.
The singing Oatley CEO featured in an ad was short, purposefully amateurish, got my attention!
Women surely loved Amazon's Alexa's Body ad, one that had to rate highly.
Dr Squatch?
Four Seasons ad deserves mention. I am not convinced the company really proved their product value in the ad, or that the public really had paid enough attention to Guliani's press conference to give it punch. It got attention from those who were really into the politics at that time, I am sure. But how many in Super Bowl audience did that fit?

No matter who is in office, I have come to predictably rely on butthurt over the freaking Super Bowl... whether it's the tone of the commercials, the content of the halftime show, the proper reverence of the anthem singer, even the conduct of the players on the field.
It most often comes from the right and self-identified conservatives... you know, the "f#ck your feelings" crowd.

I can also remember mocking those on the political left who were triggered (a word I don't like but it's appropo here) by every little slight and snark in the media and culture, until the right decided to embody the worst aspects of it.

Quite frankly, Bruce Springsteen to not the celebrity to reunite America.

Anyone else see Joan Jett on stage with Miley Cyrus? I wish I could unsee it.
Jett is 62 years old and has lived a hard life. I suggest she not try to slide into a black spandex bodysuit ever again. Looked like a pile of Michelins.

What's hilarious is to see someone make an assumption about a group of people, then get mad when someone makes an assumption about him.

Quite frankly, Bruce Springsteen to not the celebrity to reunite America. And probably not a good automotive pitchman, considering he got busted for getting on a motorcycle drunk last November. Drunk driving in a car is pretty stupid, but on a bike it's infinitely... stupider.
