I like the way the AP stuck the above in the middle of article with no explanation or context. What symbols, what words ? I am not trying to be a dick, I honestly have no clue what they are referring to.

It's a little different than your typical politically correct name change.
They aren't making the change because they feel it is offensive to a disadvantaged or discriminated against group of people.
They're making the change because don't to be mis-identified as holding the same values as groups like the Klan.

The several Crusades not exactly any of them fine moments in religious history. It definitely painted another of the great religions as villains although there is quite a lot in common in the 3 Western religions that share the pentateuch.

The funniest name I have seen, don't remember where, is the "Fighting Quakers." It's an affectionate oxymoron, not official. Fun fact: the last D3 team to defeat a D1.. probably won in Oxford more recently than BSU has!
