Next up, the EMU Eagles who have lost 9 straight. I won't quite say series outcome would be a failure if BSU didnt sweep them, unless CMU puts a broom this weekend to Kent St(go KSU go). Obviously anything less than taking 3 of 4 would be unacceptable.

3 of 4 is acceptable, especially on the road in cold weather, but 4 of 4 would be ideal.

Forget the sweep. I would like to see us play better than the first game a 10-6 loss. Baker pitched a poor game but the bullpen also pitched poorly.

Pretty much need to win next 3 since CMU hasnt shown many chinks in their armor last few weeks and their SOS in May isnt any more difficult on paper than BSUs.

Tough series. We took game one 13-8 after trailing by 4 in the last inning. Then we lost game two 2-1 in the last at bat. CMU passes us in standings, as they swept two one-run games from Kent today. I'm afraid at the end of the season we will look back on this series as a key stumble.

Definitely sucks to fall behind CMU. Margin of error in span of 2 days has shrunk quite a bit.

I'm glad BSU at least minimized damage today and that Kent St. avoided the sweep. Relief pitching was excellent today.
If BSU and CMU split in a few weeks I think this battle wont be decided until the final 2-3 games in May.

Our 2 best pitchers had a tough time I think partially do to playing at night in cold weather & maybe EMU is better than we thought. Hopefully We do better vs NIU next weekend.

Baker has struggled mightily his last four outings. He must get back on track this week if we are to have a chance at a championship run. McDermott can be a dominant pitcher, but the key is pulling him before he has a blowup inning. The rest of the pitching was actually quite solid. I'm told by someone that was there that EMU kind of had the series of its life, if you will. Sometimes that happens - just bad timing for us. |
