BSU returns home for Kent St. this weekend. Needless to say BSU has to win at least 3 in each of the remaining series to stay within striking distance of CMU.

Some of the weekend series had to postponed and teams are playing some single games mid-week to try and fit in all games. I see CMU losing at least 2 more. Hope we can better that. |

Great start to the weekend. Good guys win and bad guys lose! Indeed! Baker was flawless thru the first 6 2/3 innings and thank you WMU for a little help. If WMU can at least split with CMU and BSU can win this series that would be huge. |

Well, we got our wish, as WMU has taken 2 of the first 3 vs CMU. Unfortunately we stumbled in game one after a 4-0 lead, split the DH, and used a bunch of arms in the process.

BSU pitching was abysmal today. They got run-ruled 19-8 in 8 innings. 9 pitchers threw 195 pitches in 8 IP (24.4 per inning), gave up 22 hits (3 HR, 3 2B), gave up 9 free passes. Uggh.
Luckily, WMU helped out BSU by beating the Chips 6-1. Close game, 0-0 into B7. WMU takes 3 of 4. BSU and CMU still tied for 1st, but WMU is making a move.
On to Athens. Hopefully, the team buries this game in their memory. OU dropped 3 of 4 to Akron this weekend. I didn't look closely, but they may have rested some folks.

Disappointed that BSU didnt take 3 and fully capitalize on CMU losing 3 of 4, but at least they're back to a tie with 2 series left.

The pitching woes really started with McDermott falling apart again late in game 2. He needs to rediscover it these last two weekends for us to have a chance. Jaksich has been struggling too. I feel like winning 7 of 8 is a must, and we may need to sweep both series to have a shot at winning the outright title. CMU has Toledo (good bats) and Eastern (good pitching) the last two weeks, so no guarantees for them either. It will be a dogfight to the end.

At least we get out of the weekend tied. Now, the best team will survive the next two weekends. Truly hope it’s us. But if not, then we don’t deserve the bid.
