Donan Cruz will make his debut as Ball State’s men’s volleyball coach Thursday night at 7:00 in Worthen Arena when the Cardinals host Maryville University. BSU is primed to make a run at the conference title with nearly their entire team back that defeated Ohio State last spring in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament 3-2. Cruz arrives at BSU after winning the NAIA National Championship a year ago and being named NAIA National Coach of the Year.

Got his first sweep, as expected. Good start for him and the team. Will be interesting to see how he puts his stamp on this team.

WHAT A RECORD!!!!! I have been making a case for a small college coach for our basketball program that can teach the game of basketball to the recruits we bring in. Maybe that is what the Volleyball Gods are doing at Ball State. Knowing nothing of this coach other than his record I will refer you to Bill Parcels the ole football coach by reminding you that he says,'You are what your record says you are''. This guy's record tells me he is a winner.. Welcome to Ball State University. We are all happy to have you as a Cardinal. Hindsight always is a very good thing. Glad you are here Donan Cruz!

I have been pleading with the powers that be for YEARS to hire a teaching coach and let the young assistants bring in the recruits for the basketball program. Now that we have hired a new V-ball coach I like the same approach. We are not like the west coast schools that have recruits that have beed V-ball players on the beach their entire lives. They need instruction. This is not a ''hindsight'' statement

In VB we have a shot at good players with so few D1 rides but you have a point about left coast kids staying home.
