Here's the MAC: Buffalo | 93 | Miami | 103 | Ohio | 179 | Ball State | 202 | Kent State | 213 | Central Michigan | 239 | Bowling Green | 249 | Western Michigan | 263 | Akron | 299+ | Eastern Michigan | 299+ | Northern Illinois | 299+ | Toledo | 299+

In 2019, we were tied with Louisville & Texas Tech for 176, and previous years, we were always around the 170s-180s. In 2020 (Covid kicks in), BSU does not file its information on time and gets relegated to 284. In 2021, we can't move past 200. Miami is usually in the 80s. Ohio is usually in the Top 100. I guess someone has to be ranked in the 300s, but why 4 MAC schools?

All Midwest MAC states have been cutting higher ed funding. Ohio did well until last two years, severe cuts in Illinois, Indiana.
Hurt Miami especially which will drop further after this year's budget cuts.
All MAC schools in those Midwest states fight with flagship state schools and lose funding by comparison.
BSU has done a good job fighting for money and for good students.
Those rankings rate IUPUI more highly, but some of that is presence of Med school, engineering which require funding which bleeds over to help undergrad rating.
MAC is in decline. No doubt.

Toledo getting slammed. Still relatively good athletic funding. Urban market helps there.
Large number of their grads stay in area.
Hard for us to match other MAC schools on that count since Indiana brain drain is higher than Ohio, Michigan.

Let's face the facts:
Whitford can't win a post season game to save his life The boost from the Bane visit is now fading We stopped scheduling Longwood
OF COURSE the ranking is going to fall.

In Ball State's case I think it has more to do with the quality of faculty. Need to knock out the dead wood.
