Henry Ruggs was going 156 mph in his Corvette, in a residential neighborhood, slammed on the brakes to get down to 127 when his airbags deployed (assuming at impact). The RAV4 he rear-ended burst into flames and killed the woman driving it.
It also seriously injured his girlfriend, who was his passenger, and gave him some injuries, apparently not too serious.
The Raiders released him shortly after. He faces up to 26 years in prison.
Oh, yeah, they also found a loaded handgun on the floor of his car. Don't know if he had a permit.
I think he's done. With that kind of speed, a judge probably won't give him much leeway in sentencing.
That kind of stupidity astounds me. I mean, I'm used to the usual stupidity, but that doesn't usually result in an innocent bystander getting killed.
What a waste.
Apparently he also had a BAC of .16%, he is looking at serious jail time.
