Cardinals and Buckeyes go the distance tonight in Columbus and BSU comes fighting back from a 6-10 deficit in set 5 to defeat Ohio State 17-15 to win the match. OSU won all the statistical categories except the final score showing the heart this Cardinal team has. BSU is now 14-2 on the season with a rematch Saturday night with Ohio State in the “Dr Don Shondell Celebration Match.” A Worthen Arena record crowd is expected! Game time is 7:00!

Could this be our best Volleyball team ever?! Been to the Final Four 15 times but never made the National Championship Game. Have won the consolation game 8 times. I would say if they make the National Championship game they can claim the title of best BSU Volleyball team ever. 1 1970 2 1971 Won 3rd place game 3 1972 Won 3rd place game 4 1973 Won 3rd place game 5 1974 Won 3rd place game 6 1979 7 1984 8 1985 9 1988 Won 3rd place game 10 1989 11 1990 Won 3rd place game 12 1994 Won 3rd place game 13 1995 Won 3rd place game 14 1997 15 2002 |

In 1995, Ball State defeated the top 4 teams in the country sweeping National Champion UCLA in the Hall of Fame Classic, handing the Bruins their only loss of the season. The Cards took down #2 Hawaii in the NCAA tournament, #3 Santa Barbara and #4 Penn State in the championship match of the Hall of Fame tournament in Holyoke, Mass. celebrating the 100 year anniversary of volleyball. No team in BSU history has defeated the top 4 teams in America like the 1995 team did.

Of course, this year’s team has 2 wins over # 1 ranked Hawaii but I would agree that a Final match appearance would qualify them as # 1 all time best BSU team

I'm excited for this team but beating Hawaii and making the Final Four won't be enough to make them #1 BSU team ever. They need to take it a step further. Hopefully two.
