Interesting defensive move by the CMU coach in the bottom of the 9th.
With one out and a BSU runner at 3rd, he intentionally walks Quartermaine, then intentionally walks Powell to load the bases and create a double play situation at any base.
He then pulls the leftfielder and replaces him with an extra middle infielder, going all in on a double play situation.
Dobbins lifts a single to left field.
Strategery!

Great 4 game sweep.

I agreed with bringing the outfielder in, as the OF doesn't do you much good with a runner on third and less than 2 outs, but not sure about walking Powell. Quartermaine, yes, because he's clutch and first base was open. That CMU coach pulls plenty of stunts, though. I actually made the trip to Muncie today. Lively crowd! Our football players were in the heads of the classless CMU parents. It was great to see us knock them off their high horse. We are now firmly living in their heads the next month rent-free. I love it! |

I'm very glad I ate my words suggesting a sweep seemed far fetched given CMU hadn't been swept in 8 yr. These Cards were mega clutch hitters this weekend. Will probably see this CMU team later down the road for all the marbles Memorial Day weekend. Great job!

BTW, the Chips had a 21-game winning streak in the MAC and 18 game streak overall coming into this series. The sweep has to be one of the greatest highlights of the baseball program. Congradulations!
