Central is on a 17 game winning streak coming into Muncie on Friday. In the last 5 MAC weekends, they have swept Akron, BGSU, NIU, Ohio and Miami.
With homefield advantage, BSU has a chance to gain some ground on CMU's 3 game lead in the MAC race.
BSU and CMU have the best pitching staffs in the MAC. CMU outhits and outscores BSU, but BSU hits the long ball more often (Ts & HRs).
This should be a pitching duel and BSU cannot afford mistakes.
I'd like a BSU sweep but feeling a 2-2 spilt is on the horizon.

Definitely "need" 3 out of 4 to have a legitimate shot of overtaking them as a 1 seed, but I tend to agree a 2-2 split is far more likely scenario. Anything less than 2 wins this coming series and CMU would be a mortal lock for the 1 seed.

This is an interesting matchup. A split seems likely, but a sweep or 3-1 victory either way wouldn't be all that surprising either. CMU is due to lose, but they don't make a lot of mistakes. They are a very efficient team on the mound and at the plate. We have more pitching depth and hit for a lot more power.
While I'd love to win this series and sweep the others left on the schedule, I'm most interested in winning the MAC tournament. This team can do it, especially if the key injured players can come back strong at the right time.

I looked into it and the last time CMU was swept in MAC play was almost exactly 8 yr ago by our Cards at their place. 3 of 4 would be awesome for sure though. |

Really good win. Was anyone there to know what the crowd was like Good crowd. CMU travels well. I'd estimate 500 to 600 folks. Weather was good. |

Combined 1 hitter by the el Cardinales Schweitzer and Klein Tyler pitched a great game. Looked a little nervous at first (big game). It seemed like he was trying not to give up any hittable pitches by spotting on the edges. Sometimes you miss. CMU has really good hitters, but they could not make good contact off of Schweitzer. Those hits that connected well were fielded. I'd have to say, the outfielders for both squads played out of their asses. They stole a lot of hits today. Both outfields were spot on. These teams do not like to lose to each other. You can tell. I'd also say that Taylor, the CMU pitcher, is tough. He has command and control of the strike zone. BSU didn't really get to him until the third cycle through the lineup. He's a 2nd or 3rd round pick, if not earlier. There were at least 15 MLB scouts there today. You'll probably see a few of them at the 1st game tomorrow. I am guessing it will be O'Donnell vs. Patty for the 1st game tomorrow. It will be another duel. |

I think it was last year when all the scouts showed up in Muncie to watch Bachman (Miami) and Chayce McDermott blistered Miami and the scouts took notice.

There were around 30+ scouts in attendance at that doubleheader. They came to see McDermott and Bachman, but guess who stole the show. John Baker. In Game 1, John Baker came in to relieve McDermott and struck out three batters in the 7th. BSU scores in the bottom of the 7th to give Baker the win. In Game 2, John Baker pitches a complete game and strikes out 14 batters and Baker gets the win. How many pitchers can say they recorded two wins in the same day? In front of all of these scouts, Baker gets two wins and strikes out 17 batters. Now how the fuck does this kid not get drafted? |
