Wow. Each Big10 school could cover the yearly losses of 6 or 8 MAC football programs with that sort of money.

Hey, everyone needs to pay their "fair share." You may have a point that the only way the mid majors survive is with an outside subsidy. But the source either from CFB or the NFL seems more likely than from fringe Congressional representation.
I fear we are on own and the sky is slowly falling.

Minnesota? My bad, I don't know how I misspoke about the state...
Still. I do think FB at anything like this level at BSU needs a big influx of cash we are unlikely to see.

In my view, MAC football has a rock-solid foundation: The ability to reach into the pockets of students and take their money. MAC football could hardly be more of a joke in terms of fanbases, TV ratings and general public interest, but none of that matters. The students have to pay, and if they don't like it, they can just STFU.
If, on the other hand, MAC football was financed by a $15 million per school yearly TV contract, that would be based on viewership and sometimes tastes change (e.g. NASCAR) and TV viewers are free to tune out at any time. A much shakier situation.

Student fees aren't going to match increasing costs. Much less matching competition.
Just falling further behind.

FB is the money pit.
This is a mess even in the well funded programs, may need a luxury tax to curb NIL if there's going to be a semblance of parity there.

With that kind of money at play, we need to drop the charade of "amateur sports" or "scholar athlete". The tail is officially wagging the dog.

With that kind of money at play, we need to drop the charade of "amateur sports" or "scholar athlete". The tail is officially wagging the dog. The issue for BSU is that "we" are not in the same universe as the big conferences. "THEY" have already dropped the charade and "we" are just pretending to be in the same league.
In most sports it is not as evident as CFB. The NCAA tournament brought revenue to CBB that has preserved some parity but with NIL I fear that is going to disappear soon enough.
The big schools are using this revenue to support all their other programs, so that will eventually trickle down to impact the non revenue sports where we often now can compete. Imagine P5 schools throwing what for them would be just a few dollars toward creating more men's VB for example. Or, investing in any other men's Programs where we are closer to be competitive now. Or, even throwing more money at women's sports where we are now nationally competitive.
Factor in NIL being easier to raise for the older schools with bigger alumni bases and you may be right, the NCAA has previously preserved some degree of the amateur sports ideal, but it is on the way out.
NCAA sports may eventually be all about a new "D3" kind of competition.

Soooo, we're not finishing the football stadium? I think it is finished when it is never close to full.
