Agree chirp chirp is just dumb. We use the black uniforms to send our bad ass image only to put that too cute dancing bird on the helmets striking fear in no one. Well our level of play doesn't really strike fear either and the dancing bird backs up our belief that by putting it on helmets we are posers in the bad ass category.

How about we start the Cardinal ROAR in place of the wimpy “chirp chirp”. A roar seems reasonable if the Cardinal is truly fierce. Right? 🤔

This conversation has made me think about the Cardinal as compared to our peers. I think we come out ahead.
IU - rednecks Purdue - train enthusiasts Notre Dame - angry Irish people Fort Wayne - dead elephants Valpo - dead knights ISU - shade trees Evansville - degenerate gamblers IUPUI - generic jungle cat Butler - small dog with breathing issues Ball State - Majestic Bird

The actual real live Cardinals that populate my back yard literally run from every other bird except maybe a hummingbird. Finch? Gone. Robin? Adios. Starling? Wren? Pigeon? Aloha.
Cardinals are literally the chickens of all songbirds and are even afraid of real chickens, but technically so am I. That's why I eat as many of them as I can with taters and such.

That’s unusual as Cardinals are usually pretty territorial. Bluejays are the assholes of the bird community.

I've always found Charley Cardinal kinda scary. Bigger than life.
Maybe we can spin the cardinal as a descendant of the mythical great giant bird Quetzalcoatl.
We could work with that. Fighting Quetzalcoatl's has a ring to it.

I guess RC has never seen a Cardinal viciously attack a car rear view mirror or a reflective window...or he would have more respect for them. It's funny. I have always thought "chirp chirp" was lame, but I had the impression people liked it and that I was an outlier as usual. But maybe I'm actually in the majority this time?

San Diego State Aztecs and Brady may like Quetzacoatl. Blue Jays are the SS of the bird world. At the bird feeder cardinals hold their own against the sparrows but everyone flees or flies away when the blue jays show up.

www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/11/28/bird-feeder-pecking-order/The red-bellied woodpeckers even scare blue jays away on the bird feeder in my back yard. But according to this article crows are the boss of all bosses. Maybe blackbirds are appropriate? I think Long Island University used to be the Blackbirds. Now they’re the Sharks which is quite the upgrade. I suppose there could be sharks swimming around Long Island? Maybe we can be the Sharks too and start a rumor that there’s one secretly living in Prairie Creek Reservoir…

I nursed a crow back from an injured wing. During the healing process he would eat raw hamburger from my hand. His wing got better and he took off to the North but turned back and came close to me as to say thanks and then went off never to see him again. They are the most intelligent birds by far. Yeah I would wear a sweatshirt with a crow on it.
