Thanks for sharing. I 100% agree with him. Very few things in the marketing world compare to how bad BSU botched the interest in the Dancing Charlie logo during and after the covid miracle championship football season.

While I agree the triangle logo is dated and needs changed, I vehemently disagree that Dancing Charlie is a step forward. In my opinion it makes us look cartoonish and soft, far from fierce as a Cardinal should be. We need something fresh and new, not another retread from the past. Something more like this. <ducks to avoid incoming angry mob>

Simple logo is best on general principles.
Best if it stands out and is clear.
We're probably reading too much into this. The DN perspectives seems to me debatable, hardly conclusive about the triangle being dated. Matter of opinion.

I am not a fan of either logo. I would prefer something that is a combination of Arizona and Louisville’s logo. Yes, there are going to be a million opinions. Branding is extremely important so hopefully if a change is coming, we need to get it right!

Give me a break. Dancing Charlie sure put the fear in many of the teams that we played in the past such as St.Joe, Valpo, DePauw, Indiana St. who crushed that cute little bird on a regular basis. Was he our logo when we lost 21 in a row. The current logo sends a message and it is not cute. A 300lb lineman with Dancing Charlie on his helmet would/maybe was laughed at or bullied about the Charlie logo. It sends a message that our football team is cute but not to be feared.

The astronomical improvement of removing the Robo Card hashmarks was never properly exploited by the marketing staff
It should have resulted in $millions of logo’d gear sales.

I believe that is why BSU stopped using it. It looked too much like Iowa State and Louisville's cardinals. I believe it was a trademark issue.

This kids article references Vanderbilt and their change in logos. From the Vandy alums that I have talked to, the branding change was a big surprise to everyone. It was a pet project of the new AD.
None of the alums like their new branding. It's bland and the new "V" is too similar to that of Villanova. Valparaiso started using black with its brown and gold and is also confused with the new Vanderbilt branding.
