Good thing Bumb is playing better, but he could have been a useful spot player when we needed to pressure a quick guard, or wanted to press, give a foul. Good ball handler and FT shooter if we had a lead late.

Went to the game but as usual I was with some old friends that I don't see often so my attention was not entirely on the playing floor. Plus this game was not the best for player evaluation given that it was an easy cruise to victory.
Sellers - it was his (I think) 4 three pointers in the first ten minutes that buried BG, and effectively ended the game as a competitive exercise. BG was behind the 8-ball talent wise and they knew it and that early deficit broke any will they had coming in. Anyway, that small sample size confirmed what I already knew - that Sellers is an excellent perimeter shooter. Maybe even more impressive where a couple blocks he had showing off his athleticism.
Sparks - His inside scoring and drawing fouls would have made it very difficult for BG to win even if our perimeter shooting would have been poor. He had the same effect on BG that inside players for the better MAC teams have had on us for the last 20 years. Lewis had better be recruiting his successor(s) right now. One thing I noticed about his free throws is that, after his release, he would take a step over the line and watch the ball with antsy body language as if very unsure about the shot. Given that and the fact that he has shot FT's pretty well his whole life until now, I'm more convinced than ever that he is suffering from some odd mental thing like Steve Sax Syndrome.
Jacobs - A quiet game where he wasn't really needed anyway. I did notice his focus and effectiveness at feeding Sparks.
Bumbalough - A lot of PT, a lot of assists and a couple made threes. I hope this gives him confidence for the stretch run to provide the quality depth we need. But I was reminded what a hopeless situation it was for MAC championship contention when he was a starter and a key scorer. He just is not that level of player. I have flash backs to the horrendous beat down at Xavier when I think about those days because that is one of the few games I actually watched.
Jihad- Another somewhat limited player, but one who fills the key role of frontcourt depth that we needed so badly. I was wrong at the beginning of the season to think of him as a waste of a scholly.
Coleman - Mr. Up and Down had an uncharacteristically solid-but-unspectacular game. I was probably robbed of seeing a true Boogie display by the ease of the game.
Cleary!! - Whoa. Haven't given him two thoughts this year, but suddenly I see some interesting possibilities. Reminded me of a smaller Jeermal Sylvester in his wirey build, bounciness and aggressiveness towards the basket. Hasn't taken enough threes this year for a good evaluation on that...does anyone know what his perimeter shooting history looks like? If he could add just average outside shooting to the virtues he displayed yesterday, he could really be something.
Pearson - He really LOOKS like a player with his long limbs and broad shoulders...an NBA body really. Could easily accommodate 20 additional pounds of muscle without getting muscle bound. But has a strange knock-kneed way of moving and sometimes shows a body language of being confused. I've seen players like him sometimes stay at the same inconsistent, marginally productive level for an entire career, and sometimes blossom. Expect the former the rest of this season, but hope for the latter in the future.
Hendriks - Let's just free up that scholarship, eh?

Good assessment Sherminator. Glad to have you back in Worthen man. Pearson has a surprisingly better game and a real nose for the ball and has definitely gotten better as the season has progressed. He’s averaging 8 and 6 in conference which is pretty solid.
Cleary is crazy athletic but his basketball IQ is not exactly Mensa quality. He’s lost most of the time and just plays when he’s out there and Lewis has no tolerance for that. Bumbalough played about as well as he has all year albeit against a much lesser opponent. He would have had ten points but missed both his free throws which is so bizarre. He still has a lot demons living in his head.
Huger the BG coach will likely get whacked at year end so they’re just playing it out. He is Whitford and Billy Taylor. Been there 8 years and had two good seasons in his 4th and 5th year and downhill since. He’s gonna end his 8 year run there right at .500. Sound familiar?

A funny moment from yesterday.... crowd was cheering but suddenly went quiet. At that exact moment Lewis screams some sort of F bomb. Half second later the crowd cheers on the F bomb

I missed that and also found Lewis's behavior to be fairly unremarkable...presumably because things were going so well on the court. I kept reminding myself to watch him, but only ever saw standard things.

I think the key to Pearson is that he just stays within himself, doesn't try to do things he can't.
