I think we can keep everyone we want to keep. Replacing Jacobs will be a tall task. He’s so well rounded offensively and on D, doesn’t turnover, just so solid. I can’t imagine Coleman leaving if we don’t win it all. If we return the core and get another wing and an experienced guard to replace DJ we will be really good again. Yep, I'm much more concerned about getting a PG. Jacobs can do it all at the 1 and will be a huge loss. Wonder if Bell is being groomed to be a one while he redshirts. I know we've offered high school kids who are PGs but I think getting veteran PG via the portal would be a pretty good thing. Crucial position on the floor. Not in the way point guards were traditionally, but teams still need a floor manager, a guy who can calm things down, get guys involved, make key plays at key moments. |

Might find a vet to be primary ball handler. R/S would be a pleasant surprise if ready.
Jacobs defense hard to replace. Very good going to the basket. Can hit outside if they leave him. Tough order.
Coleman had 8 assists 2 TO, that's very good. Might spread that B/H load role around, but his offense while playing as B/H also a hard one to replace.
Sellers can improve, but I hope you're right about Lewis recruiting guards.

I think we forget that Coach did a good job of recruiting already in keeping our core group of players..Coleman,Sparks, Sellers, etc. Hopefully the success of this year will allow Coach to retain the same. The Portal will be encouraging IMO based on our success this year. Lewis seems like a coach who is connected to all kinds of schools and will be on transfers. Whoever leaves and who stays in this crazy world will be an adventure as the Portal will be, BUT I have the confidence in Lewis getting it done. Does anybody doubt this or am I drinking the kool-aid?

I think we forget that Coach did a good job of recruiting already in keeping our core group of players..Coleman,Sparks, Sellers, etc. Hopefully the success of this year will allow Coach to retain the same. The Portal will be encouraging IMO based on our success this year. Lewis seems like a coach who is connected to all kinds of schools and will be on transfers. I think you might have a little Kool-Aid mixed into your drink there. Let remember that Lewis wasn't a late hire. He's been on the job now for almost 11 months, so he had plenty of time to score in the portal last year and we had similar needs last year, and we ended up with ... Boogie and Owens-White? Along with a JUCO who hasn't played much and two freshmen who haven't played at all. I think being more of a know commodity (a successful known commodity) as a coach will help him this year. And he likely has a better grasp of what his roster deficiencies are. So I'd hope he could make some impact in the portal. Just don't think it's guaranteed. |
