Great effort. Just ran out of gas. But I still find myself disappointed. Sellers, Windham, Jihad all disappeared in second half. We had a 5 point lead with 5 minutes to go. You have to finish in that situation. I'm surprised we didn't see Cleary at all. Lack of rebounding and defending the 3-point line late in the game absolutely killed us.

Looking at the box score, we won most categories except fouls and FT's

We are officially the #4 seed. Ohio swept NIU so they are the #5 seed. That's our first round opponent in Cleveland.
Play like we did tonight and we'll have a shot next week.
Toledo is playing for the #1 seed on Friday. They have more at stake than we do. Kent holds the tie-breaker over Toledo. If we beat Toledo and Kent beats Akron, Kent will take the #1 seed.
Miami now in the #8 spot one game over EMU, CMU, and BG. WMU eliminated.

Bad results for our trips to northeastern Ohio dont bode well for our future home games against Kent and Akron in the MAC tourney.

Akron had 3 guys with 24+ points. Their 5 other guys had 9 points combined.

Agree we didn't get a lot of calls, but we didn't attack with any real drives in the late second half. Jihad has to play smarter and not make silly fouls. Thought Sellers and Jacobs were absent the last five minutes. Bumb played hard, but man does he give up a lot of points. Even though Michael Rayguy drives me nuts with his homerism, I did agree that Sparks was outplayed. Just have to show up and play harder Friday night. BTW, that Jar Arena or what ever its called is a glorified HS gym.

I was happy Sparks played & he was able to rebound fairly well. Let's try to get well for next week.

BTW, that Jar Arena or what ever its called is a glorified HS gym. It's been a truly great season, but this team has some glaring weaknesses that I'm sure Lewis will continue to address into next season: 1. Lack of aggression in getting to the hole 2. Lack of defending the 3-point line 3. Silly fouls 4. Lack of a pure scorer capable of putting us on his back late in games 5. Guys just disappearing for long stretches Again, I love this team and what they've done. They've made major strides. Given the weaknesses above and the lack of depth, I think most would agree that they've greatly exceeded our expectations and made BSU basketball fun again for the first time in over 20 years.

"1. Lack of aggression in getting to the hole" Is a mystery. "4. Lack of a pure scorer capable of putting us on his back late in games" I think Sellers is our best bet IMO.
Regardless of how the season ends, there is a lot of potential talent to develop even more----if people stay. Lewis has sold me on his development of players.

Miami now in the #8 spot one game over EMU, CMU, and BG. WMU eliminated. I have to retract part of this. With Buffalo's win over NIU they still have a shot at Ohio and the #5 seed. The two split their regular season games. Could still have a three way tie with NIU too. Ohio (9-8) vs Bowling Green Buffalo (8-9) vs Miami Northern Illinois (8-9) vs Eastern Michigan MAC Basketball Tiebreakers (from the MAC website)Ties in winning percentage, and thus for Tournament seeding positions shall be broken according to the following. Between TWO teams:A. Head-to-head competition B. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played) C. Coin flip * - Winning percentage is used instead of record because of situations where teams do not play each other the same number of times. Therefore, a team that is 1-0 (1.000) would win the tiebreaker over a team that is 1-1 (.500). For MULTIPLE (3 or more) team tiesE. Total won-lost record of games played among the tied teams F. Two (2)-team tie-breaker procedure goes into effect (refer to A). NOTE: Once a three-team tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker will go into effect. * - Winning percentage is used instead of record because of situations where teams do not play each other the same number of times. Weve talked about being mediocre for years. This year we Beat Akron Kent and Toledo in the same year that has not happened very often in a while. I dont think we will win the tournament. But unlike years past we cant just sit here and talk about how we know we are getting smacked. We very well could lose but its not guaranteed

I’m getting tired of hearing how good Akron is! The announcers, though announcing many Ball State games, to be clearly rooting for Akron! That play by guy tonight was just nauseating!
