Cards take down #7 LSU in first game of 3
7-1 final. 4 HRs by Cards. 2 by Rindfleisch.
Marnon goes 5 2/3 for win and Plesac pitches strong in relief.
Attendance......9,900.....!!
Plesac was a projected starter for game 2.....guessing it will be Brockhouse now. He is 1-1 with a .257 ERA

The LSU announcers were very complimentary of the Cards, especially pitching, throughout the game. Going to watch tonight's game with LSU fans. Hopefully the red and white are competitive tonight. It will be a tough task after a bleak locker room in Tiger Town last night.
Go Cards!

This reminds me of a three game series game we had a in 2014 against a nationally ranked Kentucky team. We took the Friday game from them 10-8 in extra innings. We lost the Saturday game 24-1, and lost the Sunday game 26-3. I'm hoping that won't be the case.
In 2012, we played Missouri, beat them 5-2 on Friday, then lost Saturday 15-5, and then lost Sunday 9-2. In 2010, we went into Fayetteville, lost the Friday game to Arkansas, 10-2, then we won Saturday's game 5-3, and then lost Sunday, 9-3.
I'm just looking for consistency in these OOC weekend series against ranked teams. I am looking for close games today and tomorrow. We aren't nearly as deep as LSU, so playing close the next two days will tell us a lot about this squad.
I thought Plesac was going to be the Saturday starter, but he was used in relief last night. Was Maloney trying to secure one win for the weekend by throwing both aces on Friday?

I don't think we have the pitching for the rest of the series but getting that win last night was huge. Have to believe rich just wanted to make sure we got that one and is realistic about our chances in the other two.

LSU needs to win the series to keep their ranking intact. They will be bringing out the guns next two games. They threw one of their Big Boy pitchers at us last night.
We should have Burns going on Sunday. He's been one of our more consistent pitchers. Hitting starting to come around.
Will be interesting how the Cards react. I don't see a re-enactment of the KY debacle.....but we are BSU. Who knows.

Since we are BSU I predict some kid who isn't even on the roster will come out and hit 10 3's against us. Oh wait, wrong sport.

Tigers come up with one in the 3rd.
