So then do other performers in such as band/choir/robotics team etc etc have a claim? They compete too. What a slippery slope to start allowing high school kids get paid for extracurriculars. Nothing can go wrong there.

Nothing can go wrong there. It certainly makes extracurricular activity seen more as the end in itself than it ever has been.

Damn. I was born too soon. My HS football and wrestling exploits would have got me at least 5 bucks.

The idea of NIL spreading to high school extracurriculars would mean the death of extracurriculars - or at least the death of any illusion of competitiveness - at most Indiana schools.
If that truly would come to Indiana sports, let's just ditch the class system based on student population and go to a 2-class system - NIL and non-NIL.
