Whitlock may end up looking like a real tool for this diatribe. Whether I like all the players or not, the sexist critique rather ignores the MANY male sports stars who share every trait he criticizes in the women. Other than the sexual orientation issue, which seems truly irrelevant.
I am red white and blue enough to root for the national team even if I don't like the players. Whitlock is no stranger for taking positions that are contrarian so maybe this is just equal opportunity shock jock sports commentary.
The story I have seen in this team's record is more a lot of arguably poor coaching decisions, and lack of preparation of a young starting group.

Even Carli Lloyd had a WTF moment. She called out the team for acting like they'd just accomplished something, while in reality they had escaped elimination by the thinnest skin.
I can't imagine celebrating a tie in which they didn't even score. This team is nothing like the ones with Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Brandi Chastain. Those were teams that would've been pissed if they tied.

I saw all the girl's soccer I ever want to see, back during my kids' youth sports days. Much like the WNBA and NCAA college sports, women want an equal share of the revenue pie and equal facilities, even though they produce maybe 10% of the revenue the men do. I think mens and womens sports in all leagues should be financially disassociated.
I'll start paying attention to womens soccer the day that a "Lia" Thomas type figure comes around and starts banging in goals right and left on the ladies. Or better yet a group of them that takes a significant portion of the national team spots away from actual women. THAT would be worth watching, and would have a comedy value beyond measure.

Apparently the very talkative Megan Chokinoe put her penalty kick over the bar. Meaning that the Swedish goalie didn’t need to trouble herself to save it
Boy I sure hope Megan is quickly able to pry her hands from around her own throat so she can get back to enlightening us with her awesome wisdom on social topics
