The graphic represents the top college TEs entering 2023 as ranked by Mike Farrell.
We really should be an unstoppable offense if we run it correctly.

We really should be an unstoppable offense if we run it correctly.
And our 3 and 4 are really nice players, also. Running it correctly is the key.

So Cooper also shows up on everylist as a top 25 back. So if you believe random lists we have 3 top 40 position players. That should win some games if we have a good qb and wr.... Oh crap I forgot about playcalling

The MAC seems in recent years to be a conference with decent to good offense, relatively weaker defense, at least in depth.
So we see some wide open offense.
Neu has success two years ago with hair raising late heroics which often involved some wide open almost desperate play calling at that point, combined with fortuitous TO the defense could create. We'd get a lead and hold on, or not. Fall behind we'd get the TO. Even if we were 3 and out, we seemed to get the ball enough.
So he dialed up a rerun. Except the ball didn't bounce our way as much. 3 and out killed us. No firepower to get a lead. Or come back.
If our defense is better, maybe his formula works with modest offensive improvement?
Or, as we've speculated, maybe he knows from the bitter experience he has to be more adventurous?
Which it is we won't know until we hit winnable contested games, where it matters, I doubt we can tell early. I'd bet on plain vanilla those first games.
