Carson Steele having a big game tonight as he has 3 TD’s in just the first half! Ball State being mentioned a couple of times. Steele is crushing tonight.

Yankoff has unexpected burst. A very messy situation in the ucla backfield But a great NIL opportunity: ”UCLA’s backfield, sponsored by Jergen’s lotion and Kleenex!”

Carson Steele:
Ball State: 289/1556/14 UCLA: 167/847/6
82% of all RB carries with BSU 51% of all RB carries with UCLA
Aside from NIL and better game day experiences, did he enjoy not getting killed every game? If the goal was to better himself professionally, did he do this by going to a much, much better program and getting 40% less carries?

Excellent question.. I try to relate with myself, professionally. I’m biased toward ball state , so I don’t know how to answer that question..

I always figure the NFL is going to find players and there are always opportunities out there for you to show your stuff to scouts.
However, I think MAC players virtually always have to fight the competition level battle. "Yeah, they did it in the MAC but what would they do against top competition?"
So, Steele adds a little of that to his resume. Unlikely to affect his overall success professionally, but might help him get some extra cash out of the draft.

Chip still aloof on Steele’s status for tonight. Evidently he is still with team. Possibly has had some kind of injury for last 5 games. No one saying

“Running back Carson Steele remains with the UCLA football team ahead of the L.A. Bowl game against Boise State on Saturday, but his status for the game remains uncertain.
Associate head coach and running backs coach DeShaun Foster said Steele’s availability for the Bruins (7-5 overall, 4-5 Pac-12) will be left up to the training staff.
Foster added that the coaching staff will likely learn more about the running back’s status later in the week before making a decision.”

With Yankoff graduating, if Steele leaves then only TJ Harden is left from one of the all-time great phallically-related-name running back groups.

He fell off on carries the last five games. Kelly plays a platoon of tailbacks so Steele is never going to be the bell cow there. He at least played a lot and led them in rushing.
